The following article contains spoilers for the Solo Leveling manhwa and anime.
Summary
- Sung Il-Hwan’s overwhelming strength could take down the Ant King, with potential life-threatening attacks.
- Thomas Andre’s battle experience and skills would likely assure a close victory against the Ant King.
- The Absolute Being’s immeasurable strength would easily trounce the Ant King, despite a lack of combat experience.
The Jeju Island arc in ‘Solo Leveling’ is widely considered to be the most compelling storyline yet, leaving many fans spellbound with its thrilling battle scenes and deeply moving moments. However, what truly sets this arc apart is its formidable villain, the Ant King.
The infamous S-rank dungeon boss, born with an inherent malevolence, showcased such immense power that it left a deep impact on the audience. Given his ability to effortlessly eliminate most S-rankers he encountered, fans may ponder over which characters from the series have the potential to overcome him. While the number is limited, some of these characters have already been introduced, with others anticipated to make their debut in Season 3.
6. Sung Il-Hwan
Sung Jinwoo’s Father
- Skills: Ruler’s Authority, Immense Strength, and Stealth
In a swift and decisive manner, Sung Il-Hwan overcame the formidable opponent Hwang Dongsoo, a prodigy in his field. The contest was so one-sided that Il-Hwan emerged unscathed while Dongsoo required hospitalization. Despite not being as potent as Jinwoo, Il-Hwan still demonstrates an overpowering strength capable of toppling a combatant like the Ant King.
It seems that the Ant King’s only potential flaw might be his inability to master his own abilities. As long as Sung Il-Hwan maintains his cool and self-possession, it’s unlikely he’ll receive a lethal strike from the Ant King. This could open up opportunities for Sung Il-Hwan to counterattack with his abilities such as Stealth and Ruler’s Authority.
5. Thomas Andre
America’s Greatest Hunter
- Skills: Capture, Reinforcement, and Collapse
Thomas Andre is a seasoned warrior with extensive experience battling magical beasts throughout his career. In hypothetical combat against the Ant King, the fight would undoubtedly be fierce and might come down to the wire. Although Thomas Andre’s Reinforcement skill combined with Collapse offers an optimal blend of aggressive offense and tactical defense, he must remain vigilant against the Ant King’s Paralysis Poison. However, given his extensive experience, it’s highly improbable that Andre would lower his guard to such an extent that the Ant King could successfully poison him.
Everything that makes your heart beat faster is beautiful.
Apart from causing harm, the Ant King’s immense power or abilities could potentially hurt a National-Level Hunter, but the damage wouldn’t be severe enough to defeat Andre decisively. It’s likely that Thomas will emerge victorious, although his victory may not be as convincing as some other characters in the Solo Leveling series.
4. Rulers
Angelic Warriors Created From Light
- Skills: Ruler’s Authority and Immense Strength
A long time ago, during the era of just light and darkness, the Supreme Creator fashioned the Leaders from the radiant energy. These powerful beings possessed strength equal to or surpassing any other entities in existence. Engaged in an epic struggle against their arch-rivals for countless eons, it is reasonable to say that they were as formidable as Kings, if not even more so.
The young Ant King, scarcely a few days old, encountered Sung Jinwoo on Jeju Island. Despite his remarkable power for his age, he likely wouldn’t have been able to inflict a decisive blow against the Rulers in combat. In fact, the angelic warriors would have quickly neutralized him as soon as the battle commenced. Techniques such as the Ruler’s Authority, which possess telekinetic abilities, would have enabled the Rulers to manipulate the Ant King effortlessly without ever approaching him closely or tiring. This is why the boss of the S-rank dungeon on Jeju Island wouldn’t have stood a chance in that battle.
3. Monarchs
Ancient Monsters Created From Darkness
- Skills: Spiritual Body Manifestation, Gate Creation, and Immense Strength
As a captivated observer, I find myself in awe of these ancient beings known as Monarchs. They possess an air of terror, mercilessly sweeping through their realms with unparalleled power. What sets them apart is not just their individual abilities but the extraordinary talents they all share – the capacity to create gates and manifest spiritual bodies. These skills are so otherworldly, so beyond what most hunters can fathom, that even the rare few who possess such gifts can barely scratch the surface compared to these mighty Monarchs.
In almost any confrontation with the Dungeon Boss, known as the Ant King, most Monarchs would have scoffed at him due to the apparent imbalance in power. It would have appeared more like a lopsided fight than a fair one, given the vast difference in strength. The attacks of the Ant King probably wouldn’t have inflicted significant damage on any of the Monarchs, and they would have easily emerged victorious.
2. Absolute Being
The Creator Of Monarchs And Rulers
- Skills: Longevity, Immeasurable Strength, Agelessness, and Indomitable Will
The Supreme Entity was undoubtedly among the mightiest beings in existence. At the beginning of all things, he separated light from darkness to bring forth the Lords and the Kings. Moreover, his extraordinary powers enabled him to craft potent weapons or relics capable of decisively shifting the outcome of any conflict.
In my observation, though incomparably mighty, the Supreme Entity seemed somewhat inexperienced in battle. Yet, his strength was such that he could effortlessly vanquish an opponent like the Ant King. Typically, S-rank dungeon bosses possess unique abilities that usually prove formidable against most hunters. However, these powers appear to be less effective against beings who transcend the power levels of any ordinary hunter. Given this context, should the Supreme Entity engage in combat with the Ant King, the latter would likely find himself at a significant disadvantage, regardless of the former’s lack of battle training.
1. Sung Jinwoo
Korea’s 10th S-Rank Hunter
- Skills: Mutilation, Stealth, Bloodlust, Detoxification, and Longevity
Since Sung Jinwoo underwent a reawakening, his fighting skills have significantly advanced with every encounter. The speed at which he’s improving is alarming and leaves even the elite hunters in Korea puzzled. On his own, Jinwoo appears virtually unstoppable, and his Shadow Extraction ability gives him an overpowering edge, making him seem almost like a divine being.
In the course of the Jeju Island storyline, Sung encountered the Ant King as the raid party’s advantage was dwindling. Using his exceptional abilities such as Mutilation and Stealth, he decisively defeated the dungeon boss hidden within. Despite the Ant King’s last-ditch effort to end the fight by poisoning Jinwoo, it proved utterly ineffective. Sung managed to put the S-rank magic beast in a dire predicament without even employing his shadow army.
