This article contains spoilers for Solo Leveling and Solo Leveling Ragnarok.
The anime adaptation of *Solo Leveling* has made the series incredibly popular around the world. While *Solo Leveling* already had a dedicated fanbase, the anime has significantly boosted its reach, leading to even more people discovering and enjoying the original web novel and manhwa.
I’m so excited about this series because it’s based on the world of Solo Leveling, created by the amazing Chugong! What’s really cool about Chugong is how much he interacts with fans – he’s always answering our questions. Recently, he talked about Ragnarok, the Solo Leveling sequel, and cleared things up: it’s not a straight continuation of Jinwoo’s story, but actually one of *many* possible universes within the Solo Leveling world! It’s like there’s a whole multiverse to explore, which is just incredible.
Chugong Reveals Solo Leveling Ragnarok Isn’t A Direct Continuation of the Original Series

- Ragnarok is One of Many Solo Leveling Universes
- Ragnarok Is Still Canon
Currently, *Solo Leveling Ragnarok* is the only continuation of the *Solo Leveling* story. It takes place after the events of the original series, but follows a new protagonist: Sung Suho, the son of Jinwoo and Chae-Hae In. While *Ragnarok* is a good story, it’s important to note that it wasn’t written by the original author, Chugong, but by Daul instead.
As a huge fan of both Solo Leveling and Ragnarok, I’ve always been curious about what the original author, Chugong, thought of the series and how it connected to his world. Well, he recently shared his thoughts! In a recent interview on LitRes, Chugong explained that while Ragnarok *is* set in the Solo Leveling universe, it’s not a direct sequel. He wants us to see it as one of many possible stories that could happen within that world – kind of like the different universes you see in Marvel! It’s so cool to know he sees it as expanding on the Solo Leveling lore in a really creative way.
Here is his full statement on the matter:
As a big fan of Solo Leveling, I was really intrigued when Ragnarok came out – it felt like a special treat just for us! I was especially curious to see what another author would bring to the world. It’s not a direct continuation of the main story, but more of a ‘what if?’ scenario, kind of like the different universes you see in Marvel. And honestly, I’m even thinking about maybe writing a follow-up myself someday!

Some fans are upset because they believed this would be the official continuation of the story, but that’s now been proven incorrect. The author could drastically change the plot later on, potentially putting Suho in a difficult situation or even removing him from the story altogether.
Will Sung Suho Get More Attention?
It’s Unlikely As Any Other Sequel Will Focus on Jinwoo

The author of Solo Leveling, Chugong, has mentioned he might write a sequel. However, this sequel would be very different from the Ragnarok story. It’s possible that Sung Suho won’t be a character in it, and Jinwoo could even have other children. Chugong intends for Sung Suho’s story to be contained entirely within Ragnarok, meaning fans shouldn’t expect to see his adventures continue beyond that point.

Currently, there are 25 episodes of *Solo Leveling* available – 12 from the first season and 13 from the second. You can watch both seasons on Crunchyroll. While we wait for news about season 3, reading the original *Solo Leveling* Manhwa is a good way to continue the story.
