Solo Leveling was a massive anime hit that continued to generate buzz long after it finished airing. While Season 1 was popular in 2024, Season 2 truly elevated the series, with its incredible battles-particularly the Jinwoo vs. Ant King fight, which quickly became a standout anime battle of the year. However, with time passing and no confirmation of a Season 3, some fans have moved on. A new anime, The Water Magician, has emerged as a popular alternative. Currently, The Water Magician is one of the most-watched shows on Crunchyroll, even surpassing currently airing series like The Rising of the Shield Hero and Dr. Stone.
Solo Leveling Has Ended, And The Water Magician is One of Crunchyroll’s Most Popular Anime At The Moment
Solo Leveling is Nowhere To Be Seen in Crunchyroll’s Most Popular Animes
I’m still completely hooked on *Solo Leveling* even though Season 2 finished a while back! It really made a splash in the anime world this year, but honestly, things are starting to quiet down. Everyone’s eager for *Solo Leveling* Season 3, and I’m convinced it’s going to happen eventually, given how popular it is worldwide. Still, with no official announcement yet, a lot of us are finding new shows to obsess over in the meantime.

I’m really excited about the possibility of a Season 3, maybe even more than anyone! It took a huge amount of work – 220,000 animated frames – to create Seasons 1 and 2. If I had my way, we’d take our time and aim for a release around the 2028 Olympics. However, the decision ultimately rests with Kaneko and A-1 Pictures.
Although Solo Leveling isn’t technically an Isekai story, it shares many similarities with the genre. Currently, The Water Magician is a very popular Isekai anime. This series is brand new, with its first season airing now, but it’s already become incredibly popular – it’s one of the most-watched anime on Crunchyroll, even beating out established shows like Dr. Stone. The series looks very promising.
Solo Leveling is Still Crunchyroll’s Most Highly Reviewed Anime

- An Anime That Has Won Many Awards
- Anime of the Year
While The Water Magician is doing well, it hasn’t reached the same level of popularity as Solo Leveling, even though Solo Leveling isn’t currently on air. Solo Leveling is Crunchyroll’s top-rated anime right now, beating out popular shows like One Piece and Demon Slayer. It was also voted Anime of the Year, proving just how much fans love the series.
Taito Ban hopes the show continues to build on its success and doesn’t end prematurely, as there’s plenty more story to explore. He’s envisioning seasons three, four, and five, and even a potential movie.
Solo Leveling remains popular, but its success isn’t guaranteed. A delayed or poorly made third season could cause interest to fade. Fans will be watching closely to see how the series performs in 2026.
Atsushi Kaneko expressed excitement about the positive reception to the series, but noted it’s not yet a household name, especially in Japan. While popular, *Solo Leveling* hasn’t reached the same level of widespread recognition as anime like *Dragon Ball*, *One Piece*, or *Naruto*. He believes a third season could be the turning point to achieve broader popularity in Japan.
Currently, there are 25 episodes of Solo Leveling available – the first season has 12 episodes and the second has 13. You can watch both seasons on Crunchyroll. If you’re eager for more content before season 3 arrives, reading the original Manhwa is a good way to continue the story.
