In the narrative of “Solo Leveling”, it’s Sung Jinwoo who takes center stage. Initially, his situation was quite bleak – he was the least powerful E-rank Hunter, struggling to scrape by financially. His weak status forced him to deal with the lowest tier of gates, as he found himself unable to confront the adversaries in other locations.

Yet, his life underwent a dramatic transformation upon entering the Double Dungeon, brushing with death. It’s debatable whether he didn’t actually perish and instead emerged reborn as an entirely new individual. During his time in the Double Dungeon, Sung Jinwoo was selected by the System to become the Player. Ever since then, the author has progressively granted him additional abilities, enabling him to tackle more formidable tasks. Nevertheless, there was a specific instance where the author intentionally weakened Sung Jinwoo.

How Did The Author Nerf Sung Jinwoo In Solo Leveling

At the point of the International Guild Conference, character Sung Jinwoo journeyed to America. He needed authorization from FBH to examine Kamish’s remains. People found his petition unexpected, yet they couldn’t refuse it. Sung Jinwoo aimed to utilize his power to resurrect Kamish as a Shadow. On two prior attempts, he failed; however, on the third try, Jinwoo successfully reawakened Kamish as a Shadow.

Sung Jinwoo conversed with Kamish for a while, and during their conversation, Kamish disclosed that he had previously served Antares. Just before Kamish could officially join Jinwoo’s Shadow Army, he discovered that his physical form was deteriorating rapidly. In light of this, he warned the hero to be cautious around four powerful individuals who were endowed with the power of the Rulers. Soon after this revelation, Kamish’s body disintegrated completely.

Kamish Was An Extraordinary Monster

In my eyes, the defeat of Kamish, a magical beast of immense power and durability, was a significant moment. His prowess, demonstrated by his solo elimination of numerous S-rank Hunters, would undeniably catapult him into an entirely different sphere compared to others in this field. The fact that it took a team of five exceptional Hunters, four of whom possessed powers bestowed by the Rulers, speaks volumes about Kamish’s formidable might. It was only with their combined efforts that they were able to finally bring an end to his destructive reign.

If Sung Jinwoo added Kamish to his group of assistants, or Shadows, it’s likely that he wouldn’t need to battle anyone until a foe stronger than Kamish appeared. It’s important to note that Kamish wouldn’t perish because he would be one of the Shadows. The author made an insightful decision by not granting Jinwoo the power to control Kamish’s shadow. While some might ponder over this choice, it ultimately seemed like the best option.

Sung Jinwoo Still Has Many Powerful Shadows

The Hero Has Gained Many Strong Shadows

Despite not recruiting Kamish as a soldier, Sung Jinwoo successfully acquired Hwang Dongsoo, an elite S-rank Hunter, whom he dubbed ‘Greed’. This nickname suits his character well. Greed is a high-tier General Grade Shadow, which implies that he can overpower even the best S-rank Hunters. At this stage of the narrative, Sung Jinwoo’s Shadow team consisted of:

1. Greed (Hwang Dongsoo)

  • Beru
  • Igris
  • Tusk
  • Jima
  • Iron
  • Kaisel
  • Tank
  • Greed

All these Shadows are powerful, and they have helped Jinwoo deal with many threats.

In the second season of “Solo Leveling,” viewers witnessed Sung Jinwoo bring on board Beru, Tusk, Iron, Tank, and Kaisel. It’s expected that in Season 3, our protagonist might acquire Greed and Jima as allies.

It’s intriguing to consider how deeply Sung Jinwoo may employ Greed, given his intense dislike for Hwang Dongsoo. Remember, this S-rank Hunter abducted Yoo Jinho and inflicted severe violence upon him. This act was unacceptable to Sung Jinwoo, leading him to take Dongsoo’s life. Since the Shadows are devoted to Sung Jinwoo, it’s possible that he might not harbor resentment indefinitely.

Currently, supporters are excitedly waiting for news about when the third season of Solo Leveling will come out. However, there haven’t been any announcements from the official sources yet, leaving fans feeling a bit disappointed. It seems that the release of Solo Leveling Season 3 might be in 2027 since the director is occupied with other tasks at the moment. Therefore, it looks like we’ll have to wait quite some time before we can watch Sung Jinwoo back in action again.
