This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling manhwa.
Solo Leveling is a thrilling action series where Jin-Woo constantly battles increasingly powerful enemies—everything from magical creatures and rogue hunters to incredibly strong beings called Monarchs. Each time a new threat appears, Jin-Woo and his powerful shadow army work together seamlessly to defeat it.
While Jin-Woo is incredibly powerful in Solo Leveling, he’s not the only hunter capable of dominating a fight. As the Monarchs become a threat in Solo Leveling Season 3, another character bravely steps up to challenge them directly, even before they target Jin-Woo. It’s not Thomas Andre or Cha Hae-In, though.
Sung Il-Hwan Is Coming After the Monarchs
Sung Il-Hwan Is a Ruler’s Vessel
- Sung Il-Hwan is a threat to the Monarchs.
- Sung Il-Hwan is one of the strongest hunters in Korea.
Sung Il-Hwan is a fascinating new character in Solo Leveling, shrouded in mystery and possessing incredible power – potentially rivaling the world’s strongest hunters. After being considered dead for years, his return has caused widespread fear, as his true nature remains unknown – is he human, a mutant, or something else entirely?
Sung Il-Hwan is a unique and unpredictable character, standing out from the rest. However, hunters like Hwang Dong-Soo aren’t afraid to challenge him, even when it’s clear Il-Hwan is much more powerful. Il-Hwan is unlike any other hunter, as he seems to have a direct connection to the Rulers.
The first two seasons of Solo Leveling haven’t yet explored the full history of the Rulers and Monarchs, but fans of the manhwa know Sung Il-Hwan is more than just someone who survived dungeons – he’s actually a host for the Rulers. He was originally meant to follow the Shadow Monarch, but when he realized Jin-Woo was the true vessel, he immediately changed his goal and decided to protect Jin-Woo from the other Monarchs.
Sung Il-Hwan Will Fight the Monarchs to Protect Jin-Woo
Sung Il-Hwan Won’t Let Jin-Woo Die Again
Sung Il-Hwan is a powerful being, one of the Rulers’ key agents, and possesses strength comparable to the Monarchs themselves. He isn’t afraid of anyone, including the Shadow Monarch, who commands the undead. His primary task is to destroy the Shadow Monarch, fulfilling the Rulers’ orders. But destiny has a different path in store for him.
Rather than turn against his son, Sung Il-Hwan will shield Jin-Woo from the other Monarchs. As a father, he refuses to let Jin-Woo face this burden alone, even if it means opposing the Rulers and risking the Monarchs’ anger. He’s already sacrificed years of his life, but now he’s determined to fight on his own terms, and will do everything he can to stop the Monarchs.
You will never rest in peace, even in death.—Sung Il-Hwan
The “Monarchs War” storyline, spanning chapters 150 to 166, will showcase Sung Il-Hwan’s full potential as he fights to protect Jin-Woo and save the world. If adapted in Solo Leveling Season 3, anime viewers will see just how powerful Sung Il-Hwan truly is, considering he’s battling two Monarchs simultaneously while also ensuring Jin-Woo’s survival.
Sung Il-Hwan Is the Second Strongest Hunter in Solo Leveling
Sung Il-Hwan is an incredibly powerful hunter in Solo Leveling, rivaled only by Jin-Woo. He’s accomplished amazing feats, like defeating a top-level hunter, Hwang Dong-Soo, almost instantly, and fearlessly battling two powerful Monarchs simultaneously. He’s truly deserving of recognition, and Jin-Woo likely wouldn’t have survived the attack on Seoul without his help.
I’ve noticed a lot of fans think Il-Hwan is the strongest hunter after Jin-Woo, and honestly, I can see why. Even with Thomas Andre being so well-known worldwide, Il-Hwan’s accomplishments really stand out. People still argue about who’s number two, but Il-Hwan definitely makes a strong claim. It’s tragic he died after fighting the Monarchs, but it wasn’t a direct result of their attack – his body just couldn’t handle the sheer power he was wielding.
