Season 2 of the series Solo Leveling came to an end, introducing two extremely powerful beings known as Monarchs – one of them being Sillad, the Ice King. Their arrival on Jeju Island suggests a more ominous future for both humanity and elite S-Rank Hunters worldwide.
Up until now, Sung Jinwoo has successfully vanquished every foe that came his way, be it from the world or the System. Yet, even the most formidable Hunter Korea has produced may find it challenging to face off against the Frost Monarch, Sillad. Known for his cold demeanor and cunning intellect, Sillad harbors an intense disdain for humankind, similar to other Monarchs, and he will stop at nothing to eliminate the Shadow Monarch’s host, Jinwoo.
Sillad Is The Monarch Of Frost In Solo Leveling
He Is An Elf Who Is Also Known As ‘King Of Snow Folk’
Sillad is an Elf who takes great satisfaction in his Ice magic and stands firm against any adversary, regardless of the circumstances. Sillad made his debut during the Jeju Island arc following the detection of the Shadow Monarch’s mana. At that point, Sillad was puzzled as to why Ashborn had been aiding humans, but he wasn’t yet certain about the Shadow Monarch’s deceit. Consequently, the Monarch pursued another objective – exterminating all human vessels of the Rulers.
As Sillad and Rakan engaged in conversation about Ashborn, Sung II-Hwan followed closely behind them, tracking the monarchs. His mission was twofold: to demolish Ashborn’s vessel and to eliminate any monarchs he encountered along the way. Seizing an opportune moment, Jinwoo’s father attacked Sillad, who was in America at the time. However, Yogumunt was with Sillad, as anticipated, and Hwan found himself unable to battle two monarchs simultaneously, forcing him to retreat.
You think you can stand against me? I’ll freeze you where you stand! – Sillad, The Frost Monarch
Sillad persistently pursued the Rulers’ ship on Earth until he found one, Go Gunhee. The Frost Monarch assaulted Gunhee when he was in his office. In a desperate struggle, Gunhee fought against the Monarch, but Sillad fatally wounded him with an ice spear and inflicted severe damage to his internal organs. However, before Sillad could claim victory, Jinwoo appeared on the scene utilizing Shadow Exchange.
At long last, I found myself standing before Ashborn’s human avatar, the future Shadow Monarch – none other than Jinwoo. I was well aware that even without the full might of the Shadow Monarch, Jinwoo possessed strength enough to end my life. Instead of engaging him head-on in a potentially fatal confrontation, I chose to exercise caution and make a swift exit, vowing to return with reinforcements when ready. Little did the Monarch suspect, but no number of allies could stand against the formidable might of Jinwoo.
The Ultimate Battle Between Jinwoo And Sillad In Solo Leveling
Does Sillad kill Sung Jinwoo? Well…Yes, And No
In a bid for assistance against Jinwoo, Sillad communicates with other rulers. Some, such as Yogumunt, proved timid and refused to engage in battle. However, Rakan and Querehsha chose to side with Sillad in facing this challenge. Rakan made his way to Korea and squared off against Thomas Andre to entice Jinwoo into the open. The strategy proved effective. As soon as Jinwoo appeared, Sillad and Querehsha emerged from their concealed positions to pursue their adversary. Though formidable, fighting three Monarchs simultaneously was no small feat, yet Jinwoo managed to subdue Querehsha.
The battle was far from concluded, as both Rakan and Sillad were still alive. Sillad engaged Jinwoo in a fierce confrontation, keeping him preoccupied, which provided an opportunity for Rakan to strike the next Shadow Monarch from behind. Although Jinwoo appeared dead after a lethal attack from Rakan, his heart began pulsing black – signifying that he was transforming into the Shadow Monarch and Ashborn’s true successor. Recognizing this, Sillad and Rakan aimed to eliminate Jinwoo before he regained consciousness; however, they were interrupted when Sung II-Hwan intervened to save his son.
In another version of events, Sillad was incredibly strong, yet Sung II-hwan was battling for a greater cause. Despite Sillad severely wounding Hwan, the ex-Hunter managed to delay long enough for his son to arrive. As the situation became dire, Rakan swiftly departed to avoid the Shadow Monarch’s retribution. However, Sillad was a man of honor. He refused to retreat and instead stood firm against Jinwoo. Alas, all that honor and fury were for naught, as Jinwoo effortlessly overpowered the Ice Monarch, ultimately striking him down with a fatal blow and shattering his trident.
In the tale, Sillad was among the earliest kings introduced, and he demonstrated remarkable courage in his battles with Jinwoo. His character is pivotal as he continually tests Jinwoo’s boundaries, culminating in events that ultimately bring forth the emergence of the next Shadow Monarch.
