Solo Leveling Needs To Change This One Thing To Beat Demon Slayer

This post contains spoilers for Solo Leveling.

Solo Leveling is a hugely popular anime known for its exciting action and incredibly powerful main character. Its quality is clear, as it even won Anime of the Year!

Despite being incredibly popular, Solo Leveling isn’t without flaws. In fact, while the action sequences are fantastic, the series falls short in other areas, preventing it from reaching the same level as titles like Demon Slayer.

Solo Leveling Is Below Demon Slayer In Terms Of Overall Quality

Demon Slayer’s Story Is Superior

  • Solo Leveling’s story arcs become repetitive quickly
  • The side characters are not given enough attention

Even without a new TV season in 2025, Demon Slayer remained the most popular anime thanks to its incredible Infinity Castle movie. The film broke numerous box office records, even outperforming many live-action movies, demonstrating anime’s growing mainstream appeal. However, Demon Slayer’s success wasn’t instant; it took time to build this level of popularity.

Demon Slayer quickly became popular after its anime adaptation aired internationally. Viewers were particularly impressed with the high-quality animation, which was created by the studio ufotable. They worked hard to make the animation flawless, allowing fans to fully enjoy the show. However, Demon Slayer’s success wasn’t just about the visuals. Its compelling story and memorable characters also played a huge role. This is where it differs from Solo Leveling, which boasts similarly impressive animation but doesn’t quite match Demon Slayer in terms of story and character development.

To surpass Demon Slayer in popularity, the Solo Leveling anime needs a stronger focus on its narrative. Currently, each story arc feels repetitive: Jinwoo gains power and easily defeats his enemies. While brief moments of struggle add some intrigue, this tactic becomes predictable and loses its impact over time.

Solo Leveling would benefit from giving its supporting characters more prominent roles. In the Jeju Island arc, the powerful Korean S-rank Hunters largely stood on the sidelines, and even struggled against the Ants despite their abilities. Characters like Cha Hae-in, who is a capable fighter, were easily injured. This pattern of underutilization happens throughout the series and is a significant weakness that the story needs to address.

Solo Leveling Season 3 Release Date Hasn’t Been Confirmed Yet

The first two seasons of Solo Leveling have been incredibly well-received, setting a high standard for action anime. A-1 Pictures did a fantastic job delivering thrilling fight scenes. Many fans felt the second season was even better than the first and it broke numerous viewing records. Considering how popular Season 2 was, everyone expected an announcement for a third season, but so far, there’s been no news about its production.

Fans are understandably confused by the recent silence, but there’s no cause for concern. A-1 Pictures understands how popular and important Solo Leveling is, and they recognize its potential to become a massive global franchise. With the series at its peak in popularity, it makes sense for them to move forward. A-1 Pictures is aware of the risks of waiting too long, so an announcement is expected in the next few months.

I’m really excited for Solo Leveling Season 3! It looks like we’re finally going to see Jinwoo face off against Kandiaru, the guy who created the System. This fight seems huge, and I have a feeling it’s going to reveal a lot about why Jinwoo was specifically chosen as the Player. Hopefully, the animation studio releases it soon – I don’t think fans can wait much longer to find out these answers!
