The following contains spoilers for the Solo Leveling manhwa.
The second season of the series known as “Solo Leveling” concluded with a bang, largely due to the visually stunning battle between Jinwoo and the Ant King on Jeju Island. Regrettably, one of the highly-regarded S-rank hunters, Cha Hae-In, was eliminated prematurely in this fight, leaving fans wanting more from her skills.
Although it might have been frustrating for admirers of her character, the positive aspect is that one of the primary fights in the upcoming season could well be her confrontation with Jinwoo’s shadows. If the animation quality of Season 2 comes close to matching that of Season 3, then fans of Solo Leveling can expect a visually stunning spectacle.
Lead Up to the Fight
The Story Builds Up Jinwoo’s Shadows

Towards the close of Season 2, Sung Jinwoo walks through a barrier obstructing vehicle movement, leading to the season finale. As the credits begin to roll, Jinwoo is shown stepping into a dungeon gate which subsequently turns crimson, hinting that another unforeseen event has occurred, requiring the intervention of our formidable protagonist once more.
“I’ll finish this within a day.” -A confident Jinwoo explores the area inside the red gate.
In the upcoming Season 3 of Solo Leveling, it seems that the storyline will kick off with a battle against the boss of the dungeon, showcasing just how formidable Jinwoo has become. This could be the first instance in the manhwa where we truly appreciate Jinwoo’s rapid progress surpassing the world. Following his efforts on Jeju Island, Jinwoo effortlessly summons a powerful shadow army that swiftly defeats the dungeon foes, leaving even the formidable red gate dungeon boss bewildered. As Jinwoo effortlessly bypasses this red gate without any peril, this display of power within the dungeon serves to emphasize the might of Jinwoo’s shadows in preparation for his upcoming encounter with Cha Hae-In.
Cha Hae-In Fights Igris
The S-Rank Hunter Finally Gets to Shine

Immediately upon Jinwoo’s return from the red gate dungeon, he must work out the initial steps for financing and establishing his newly formed guild. At first, it is only him and Yoo Jinho involved. Yet, they urgently need to recruit a third member to officially launch their guild.
Yoo Jinho gently brought to Sung Jinwoo’s attention, “Haven’t we forgotten something? We still require one more original member for our guild.
Suddenly, a knock echoed through the room, and lo and behold, Cha Hae-In unexpectedly stood before them, eager to become their third member. Jinwoo then disclosed that a test was required to join their guild, a trial by combat against his most formidable shadows. Yet, Cha Hae-In willingly agreed to the challenge.
“Which summon is it?” -Cha Hae-In
“For you Hunter Cha, I will pick the strongest.” -Sung Jinwoo
“…Good.” -Cha Hae-In
Instead of pitting Cha Hae-In against Jinwoo’s most formidable shadow as promised, he chooses to have her face off with Igris rather than the latest top shadow, Beru.
To hunter Cha, I mentioned that I’d deploy my most powerful summon, but engaging with Beru might prove too distressing for me.” – Sung Jinwoo
Surprisingly, Cha Hae-In manages to overpower Igris in their battle, even though she was using a practice weapon and Igris had the S-rank Demon King’s Longsword. Just like the fight against Beru in Season 2, the anime version might extend this encounter with additional fight sequences to amplify its length and intensity compared to the original depiction.
The Battle Against Beru
The S-Rank Hunter Finally Gets to Shine

Nevertheless, although Cha Hae-In managed to pass Igris with ease, the ordeal isn’t finished for her yet. She is aware that Jinwoo is not giving his all against her, and she insists on battling Beru, disregarding her past traumas.
I thought you said your most powerful summon was the Black Knight. Isn’t that right? I’d like to face him again. So, could you call him out now?” – Cha Hae-In
In this battle, the clash between Cha Hae-In and the Ant King is a whirlwind of swiftness and mastery. Unlike their previous encounter, Cha Hae-In evades his surprise attack from behind, prolonging the fight significantly. Despite Beru’s overwhelming power, Cha Hae-In persists and comes close to defeating him by using her Light Blade skill when he least anticipates it.
To prevent killing Cha Hae-In, Beru is compelled to tap into an untapped intuition, leading Jinwoo to halt the battle right as Beru was about to injure Cha Hae-In. Despite being defeated by Beru in the previous chapters, Beru’s skills are still remarkable, making this fight all the more impressive. With quality animation, this confrontation, during which we see Cha Hae-In unleash her full power for the first time, could become one of the most exciting fights in Solo Leveling.
Solo Leveling can be streamed on Crunchyroll and Amazon.
