This article contains spoilers from Solo Leveling.
Since the anime adaptation of Solo Leveling premiered, its popularity has exploded. Though the original manhwa and light novel already had a dedicated fanbase, the anime produced by A-1 Pictures significantly boosted its reach. Many now consider Solo Leveling one of the most popular anime series of the last ten years, and its success shows no signs of slowing down.
Even though the original Solo Leveling story has finished, it looks like the popular main character, Sung Jinwoo, might be coming back. The author, Chugong, recently announced to fans that Solo Leveling could continue in some form, which would likely involve Sung Jinwoo’s return. Chugong also clarified that Solo Leveling Ragnarok isn’t a direct continuation of the original story, but rather takes place in one of multiple universes within the Solo Leveling world.
Solo Leveling Author Confirms Jinwoo’s Potential Return
Sung Jinwoo’s Story Will Likely Continue
- Sung Suho Doesn’t Exist In The Chugong Universe
- Jinwoo Will Be The Main Protagonist
The original author of Solo Leveling, Chugong, recently addressed the sequel series, Solo Leveling Ragnarok. He clarified that he doesn’t view Ragnarok as a true continuation of his story. This is logical, as he wasn’t involved in writing it, and Solo Leveling is a world he originally created. However, Chugong confirmed that Ragnarok is still part of the Solo Leveling universe, but it should be seen as just one of many potential storylines within that world. Here’s his statement on the matter:
Chugong created ‘Ragnarok’ as a treat for fans of ‘Solo Leveling.’ He wanted to see another writer’s take on the world and characters. While it takes place in the ‘Solo Leveling’ universe, it doesn’t follow the main storyline directly. Think of it as an alternate version of events, similar to the different universes in Marvel. Chugong is also thinking about potentially writing a follow-up story himself.
During a recent interview, Chugong hinted that he might write a sequel to Solo Leveling. He’s made it clear that Solo Leveling Ragnarok takes place in a different universe, meaning the character Sung Suho isn’t part of the original story. This strongly suggests that Sung Jinwoo would remain the main character if a sequel to Solo Leveling is created, and it seems like that’s a real possibility.

Solo Leveling’s Popularity Means A Sequel Is Likely
Fans Want To See More Of Sung Jinwoo
Many fans are curious about the decision to continue the story of Solo Leveling, but the reason is straightforward: the series is incredibly popular right now. It has a huge global fanbase eager for more content. This is similar to how Dragon Ball has continued for years after its original run ended. Now is the perfect time to build on Solo Leveling‘s success, and the author, Chugong, understands that.
It remains to be seen if the next installment will be any good, but given how popular Solo Leveling is, a new series is likely coming soon. Fans are hoping the author, Chugong, can create a story that’s as captivating as Ragnarok, or even better. Even if a sequel does happen, it will still take a while before we see an anime adaptation.
Currently, there are 25 episodes of Solo Leveling available – the first season has 12 episodes and the second has 13. You can watch both seasons on Crunchyroll. While fans wait for news about season 3, reading the original Solo Leveling Manhwa is a great way to continue the story.
