Some CDL Players Could Already Be In Trouble at the Esports World Cup

As a longtime fan of competitive Call of Duty, I have witnessed the fiery and passionate nature of players like Thomas ‘Scrap’ Ernst firsthand. His quick wit and sharp tongue have earned him a reputation as one of the most entertaining figures in the scene. However, his penchant for trash-talking has often landed him in hot water, and it seems that this time may be no different.

As a seasoned Call of Duty player who has competed in numerous Esports tournaments around the world, I can tell you that the recent discovery about the strict rules in the Esports World Cup‘s rulebook for Saudi Arabia is a cause for concern. Having traveled to various countries for gaming events, I have encountered different cultural norms and expectations around sportsmanship and conduct during competitions.

Recently, there’s been an increase in verbal sparring among Call of Duty League teams, specifically between Atlanta FaZe’s Drazah and Toronto Ultra’s Scrap. With tempers flaring, there’s a concern that these heated players might push the boundaries during the tournament in Riyadh.

1. In the Call of Duty League, Thomas ‘Scrap’ Ernst has shown himself to be a relentless competitor, frequently berating opponents without hesitation. He easily gets inside his adversaries’ heads, sometimes even resorting to taunts in other languages during matches. However, despite occasional slip-ups at crucial moments, he consistently maintains his persona as the unyielding antagonist of the CDL.

Other competitors can keep up with him just as well. It’s well-known that Call of Duty is an exhilarating game, leading many players to engage in boisterous banter and verbal jabs against one another during Local Area Network (LAN) events, like the Esports World Cup.

Per the rulebook, which was dug up by CDL Intel on Twitter:

As a gamer, I’m expected to keep things friendly and fair when interacting with fellow players, maintaining a professional and sportsmanlike demeanor at all times.

1. It’s important for everyone involved to resolve disagreements politely, avoiding any form of physical violence, verbal threats, or bullying.

Participants shall not use obscene or offensive gestures or profanity.

Some Call of Duty players find the rules extremely challenging, regrettably. Yet, with a significant amount of money at stake, perhaps Scrap and Drazah will manage to control their rivalry temporarily.
