Xbox Surprises Users With New Digital Gift Cards
After the Black Friday sales, Microsoft is unexpectedly giving some Xbox users $10 digital gift cards. One user on the Xcloud subreddit, AnXboxDude, reported receiving the gift card through the Xbox Cloud Gaming web app in the Offers and Credits section of their notifications. This $10 gift card can be used to buy anything digital from the Xbox Store, like a one-month Xbox Game Pass Essential subscription (normally $9.99 before tax). You can also combine the gift card code with a credit or debit card to save money on any digital purchase from the Xbox Store.
It’s currently unknown who qualifies for a free $10 gift card from Xbox. However, if you’re eligible, you have until December 31st to redeem your code. You can check for a gift card in your Xbox notifications – on the PC app, look for the bell icon in the top left corner. Some users received the gift card seemingly at random, while others got it after purchasing an Xbox Series X. Keep checking your email and notifications before the end of December to see if you’ve been selected. Once you redeem the code, the $10 credit will remain on your Xbox account for you to use whenever you’re ready to buy a game.
It’s Not Clear Who Microsoft Picks to Get a Gift Card
Microsoft has surprised its users with free gifts a couple of times this year. Back in April, some users randomly received digital Xbox gift cards worth $5 or more during Microsoft’s Spring Sale. This December, the offer is even better – Xbox is giving out double the amount, giving users more to spend.
Microsoft sometimes sends Xbox gift cards to users, though it’s unclear exactly who receives them or why. It’s worth checking your email just in case! With Xbox prices potentially going up in the future, it’s uncertain if Microsoft will offer any further help to players.
