Some of Overwatch 2’s Persona 5 Skins Already Seem Obvious

The upcoming 18th season for the game Overwatch 2 is set to debut next week, and in anticipation of this launch, Blizzard Entertainment revealed a fresh trailer during Xbox’s Gamescom broadcast. As previously announced by Blizzard, the new season introduces an innovative Stadium Quick Play queue, a Payload Race mode, a new character named Wuyang, as well as additional Perks, Stadium maps, and Stadium heroes. Furthermore, it appears that Overwatch 2 Season 18 will also include a collaboration event with Persona 5, exciting some fans who were caught off guard by this development.

In the latest trailer for Overwatch 2, there’s a quick glimpse of a character sporting a Joker-like outfit towards the end. The identity of this figure is yet to be clarified (whether it represents the actual Joker or another character), but it’s evident that Overwatch 2 will soon introduce Persona 5-themed cosmetics. Although Blizzard and Atlus, creators of Persona 5, are keeping details about this crossover event under wraps, there are several characters from Overwatch 2 who seem like strong candidates for Phantom Thieves skins.

A Haru Skin for Juno Would Be a No-Brainer

It’s interesting to note that some voice actors lend their talents to characters in both Overwatch 2 and Persona 5. For instance, Xanthe Huynh voices both Haru Okumura from Persona 5 and Juno from Overwatch in the respective English dubs for each game.

It’s quite plausible to consider dressing Juno in a Haru-like costume since they share the same voice actor and possess comparable traits. Also, Haru is usually seen in school uniform, but there’s also an intellectual version of the character who sports a spacesuit-like attire, much like Juno does.

In simpler terms, just as Juno and Haru are portrayed by the same actor Matthew Mercer in different games, Cole Cassidy from Overwatch 2 and Yusuke Kitagawa from Persona 5 share the same voice actor. While Cassidy doesn’t wield swords or rifles like Yusuke does, it’s possible that Blizzard might consider adding a Phantom Thief skin for Cassidy in Overwatch 2.

Since They’re Both Hackers, Blizzard May Make a Futaba Skin for Sombra

In terms of voice actors and overall character design, there aren’t many similarities between Overwatch 2 heroes and the Phantom Thieves members. However, one character stands out for sharing a significant characteristic with Futaba Sakura from Persona 5: they are both expert hackers. Despite Futaba not wielding weapons in Persona 5, the shared occupation between them and Sombra makes for an intriguing connection.

While there aren’t many similarities between Overwatch 2 heroes and Phantom Thieves members in terms of voice actors or appearance, one character, the Mexican damage hero Sombra, shares a significant trait with Futaba Sakura from Persona 5 – they are both skilled hackers. Although Futaba doesn’t have any weapons in Persona 5, their shared occupation makes them an interesting match.

With Some Tweaks, Blizzard Could Make Wrecking Ball Look More Like Morgana

In simpler terms, the playful feline-like character from “Persona 5,” named Morgana, shares a similarity with the small animal hero in “Overwatch 2,” the mech-wearing hamster, Wrecking Ball. For a possible skin resembling Morgana, Wrecking Ball could sport cat ears and alter his mech’s color scheme to black, yellow, and blue.

The studio might consider taking an additional step to design Wrecking Ball’s mech to resemble Morgana’s bus form, yet given that no skin alterations can modify the character’s shape, it seems unlikely they will take this approach.

There Aren’t Many Obvious Similarities Between the Overwatch 2 Heroes and the Other Phantom Thieves

In contrast to Morgana, Haru, Yusuke, and Futaba from Persona 5, the heroes in Overwatch 2 are a bit trickier to draw comparisons with. However, there’s still some scope for speculation. For example, due to their shared physique and tight-fitting costumes, one might speculate that either D.Va or Widowmaker could potentially receive a skin based on Ann Takamaki.

In the meantime, since they both share the trait of leaving behind signature items, there’s a possibility that Genji could get a Joker costume too. As for Akechi, Kasumi, Makoto, and Ryuji, it remains uncertain which Overwatch 2 character Blizzard might team them up with.
