Summary
- PS Plus is facing criticism due to the removal of popular games.
- More games are leaving PS Plus than being added in May 2025.
- Some PS Plus subscribers have expressed their intent to cancel their subscriptions.
some PlayStation Plus subscribers are considering to terminate their subscription or choose not to renew it, as they feel the service has significantly evolved over the years. Initially, PlayStation Plus served as a platform for PS3 and PSP gamers to receive free games monthly. However, with the advent of the PS4 generation, online multiplayer became a necessity under PlayStation Plus. More recently, PlayStation Plus has been divided into three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium, allowing subscribers to pick their preferred level.
The basic PS Plus service, known as PS Plus Essential, includes online multiplayer gaming and monthly free games. The Extra tier provides access to a vast collection of games for both PS4 and PS5. Lastly, the Premium tier offers all the benefits of the previous tiers, in addition to classic games from the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP libraries. However, it appears that some subscribers have become displeased with the PS Plus service, particularly those who opted for the Extra and Premium options.
A Reddit user named karbirsingh84 pointed out that historically, May has been a challenging month for PS Plus Extra, with May 2025 following suit. On May 20th, a total of 22 games will be removed from both PS Plus Extra and Premium, including some popular titles such as Batman: Arkham Knight, Grand Theft Auto V, Infamous: Second Son, Resistance: Fall of Man, and Resistance 2. These departures have led many subscribers to cancel or choose not to renew their subscription due to the loss of these games.
Some PS Plus Subscribers Aren’t Happy About the May 2025 Updates
Some PlayStation VR2 users are displeased about the upcoming removals from PS Plus, as several virtual reality titles such as “The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners” and critically acclaimed “Before Your Eyes” will be removed on May 20th. Although PlayStation VR2 hasn’t achieved the popularity Sony anticipated, owning a VR headset made subscribing to PS Plus Extra an attractive proposition for some, as it provided access to many of the hardware’s top games.
It appears that the newly announced PS Plus Extra and Premium titles for May 2025 haven’t really satisfied fans. On May 20th, nine Extra games and just a single Premium game will be added to the service, which means more games are being removed this month than are coming in. Fans have consistently voiced their discontent about the scarcity of new PS Plus Premium games, and receiving only one new title in May 2025 isn’t making things better.
