As a passionate gamer, I’ve noticed quite a few of us in the gaming community on social media have been experiencing overheating issues with our brand new Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. Frankly, it was anticipated that this newer model might run a bit hotter than its predecessor. However, the frequency of these overheating incidents is more than we had hoped for, which is unfortunate news for us Nintendo fans.
The second version of the Nintendo Switch hit the market on June 5 and has already become a massive success, according to Nintendo’s reports. In just four days, over 3.5 million units were sold, breaking previous company records. Unlike its predecessor, this updated model boasts a larger size and advanced features like Nvidia DLSS support. Most gamers who have purchased it seem satisfied with their investment. Yet, the new console has sparked some debates, and it appears that fresh controversies are emerging around it.
According to reports on social media from some Japanese gamers, their Nintendo Switch 2 consoles have been experiencing overheating issues. For instance, p_typhoon was playing Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, a game not known for high demand, when the console suddenly froze. Although the screen continued to move, the controls became unresponsive and the fan became excessively loud, forcing them to stop playing. Similar accounts include x1010_q’s complaint that the console became too hot to handle, making it difficult to play for extended periods without using a fan. Other users, like JPSjxSmUMy170, have reported their Switch 2 overheating and finding the fan noise bothersome.
Fans Report That Their Nintendo Switch 2 Is Overheating
It might be frustrating to buy the Nintendo Switch 2 upon its launch only to encounter problems like overheating, but it appears that these issues aren’t prevalent across all units. Nintendo also recommends users to avoid placing the console close to a heat source, which could potentially cause some instances of overheating.
One contentious issue regarding the Switch 2 is the implementation of Game-Key Cards for third-party publishers in some physical game editions. Many fans have voiced their disapproval because these cards do not contain the full game; instead, they serve as keys to activate the game.
In any event, the Nintendo Switch 2 has proven to be extremely popular, and so is its marquee title, Mario Kart World. Notably, Nintendo announced that over a million physical copies of Mario Kart World were sold in Japan alone, which is quite impressive given that this figure excludes digital sales for the widely played racing game.
