‘Someone Didn’t Do Their Homework’ Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Fans Call Out Blumhouse for Obvious Animatronic Error

Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures have unveiled a fresh trailer for “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2”. The response to Freddy’s comeback has been overwhelmingly favorable, but eagle-eyed fans have spotted an error in one of the animatronics, as pointed out by Blumhouse. “Five Nights at Freddy’s” is a chilling survival horror video game series created by Scott Cawthon, where players assume the role of a night security guard at the fictional pizza restaurant, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, haunted by malevolent animatronics. Launched in 2014, this franchise has since grown to encompass several sequels, novels, and now, two live-action films.

In 2023, the debut of the first movie took place, with Emma Tammi at the helm as director and Josh Hutcherson from “The Hunger Games” portraying the security guard. Despite mixed reviews from critics, enthusiasts of the video games and horror enthusiasts generally enjoyed the initial fright. The promotional posters for the movie had previously hinted at Toy Freddy’s appearance, a popular spin-off of the original Freddy Fazbear in “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2”. Notable additions to the cast for the sequel include Skeet Ulrich, Wayne Knight, Mckenna Grace, and Teo Briones.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Fans Call Out Blumhouse for Misgendering Bonnie

On Reddit, a post by ElliotSmelliot123 drew attention with a screenshot of Blumhouse’s response to a social media comment about Withered Bonnie from the game Five Nights at Freddy’s. The original comment complimented Withered Bonnie as looking perfect, and Blumhouse replied, “She is terrifying and she is the moment.” This response mirrors the famous Wendy Williams meme, but it caught the community off guard because Blumhouse addressed Bonnie using female pronouns. While Bonnie uses He/Him pronouns according to the game’s Wiki, some have mistakenly referred to the antagonist as feminine due to its name. Additionally, there has been debate about Bonnie’s color, and even creator Scott Cawthon had to clarify Bonnie’s shade for both the fandom and the film adaptation team, which surprised everyone involved.

Reddit users have criticized Blumhouse for not being well-versed in the lore, possibly due to the person managing their social media account being out of the loop. However, a fan pointed out an inconsistency – while the original comment referenced Withered Bonnie, it displayed Withered Chica instead, leading to confusion. Additionally, it was noted that canonically, Withered Bonnie has not been gendered. Given Blumhouse’s recent acquisition of the Saw franchise, which comes with a rich history and lore to remember, this oversight is concerning.

As I eagerly await the arrival of “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” I find myself pondering if this sequel will surpass its precursor in terms of sheer terror. The recently unveiled trailer has sparked much discussion among fans, with the redesign of the withered animatronics being the main point of contention. Some have expressed that the film versions of these characters seem even more chilling than their video game counterparts, while others are puzzled by Withered Chica’s jaw not appearing as wide as in the original source material. Yet, a few optimistic voices suggest that the animatronic’s jaw will open at a crucial moment in the film, adding to the overall sense of dread and unease.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is scheduled to be released on December 5, 2025.
