Someone Made an Animated Version of the Minecraft Movie Trailer and It’s So Much Better

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the Minecraft movie trailer debacle has left me utterly bewildered and dismayed. The original trailer was a disappointing letdown, but then along came @Alumio_’s masterpiece, and it restored a glimmer of hope in this old heart.

After the disappointing response to the Minecraft movie trailer that was released a few days ago, an animator has now fully animated the trailer, and it’s significantly improved.

3D artist and animator @Alumio_ recently created an animation that quickly became viral on X (previously known as Twitter). In just five hours since it was posted, the tweet garnered 140,000 likes, mirroring the number of likes on Minecraft’s original trailer upload. You can view the animated Minecraft trailer below:

What’s more impressive is that the animation only took Alumio a few days.

In simpler terms, the proposed budget for the Minecraft film is approximately $150 million. The cast includes actors such as Jason Momoa and Jack Black. Interestingly, Jack Black’s character in the trailer doesn’t seem to resemble Steve, but it’s just Jack Black wearing a blue shirt. Nonetheless, this shouldn’t detract from your excitement for the movie!

It appears the animated preview is resonating more with viewers, even though we’re unsure if the film itself will be a hit. Still, it’d be thrilling to witness an entirely animated production in the future. Regrettably, the Minecraft movie trailer on YouTube has amassed over a million dislikes, indicating that the game’s enthusiasts aren’t too pleased with the movie’s creative choices.

Minecraft, the movie, is set to launch in theatres on April 4, 2025.
