Sega is offering a complimentary version of the Blue Star from Sonic Riders, known as Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. This charming throwback has been made accessible two months prior to the multi-platform launch of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
At The Game Awards held in December 2024, Sega unveiled their upcoming racing game titled CrossWorlds. This new title serves as a sequel to the incredibly popular Team Sonic Racing, which saw 3.5 million copies sold from its mid-2019 release up until June 2025. The anticipated release date for CrossWorlds is set for September 25th.
As Sonic Racers’ release approaches, Sega has announced a free giveaway – the Blue Star Extreme Gear from the 2006 arcade racer Sonic Riders. This hoverboard, originally designed by Tails in the game’s storyline, will be distributed to those who create a Sega Account and link at least one gaming platform to it. The aim is for fans to connect their profiles to the platform they intend to use when playing Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
How To Claim Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Blue Star
- Sign up for a Sega Account
- Link the account with at least one platform on which Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be available
- Buy Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds
- Claim the Blue Star promo code via the Free Gift Promotion website between September 25 and October 31
- Redeem the promo code on the platform/storefront for which it was issued
The Blue Star offer may not be available in all regions.
In a recent social media post about the promotion, Sega mentioned that the offer is limited to certain areas, without providing specific details. However, based on fan reports, it seems the promo is at least accessible in North America and Europe. If you’re an existing Sega Account holder who has connected at least one gaming platform to your profile, you’ll automatically qualify for the freebie and will receive your Blue Star when Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launches on September 25.
The Blue Star will be given out using promotional codes for the game’s intended platforms. Fans of Sonic can only redeem one promo code, regardless of where they ultimately purchase the game from. This offer is valid between the game’s release on September 25 and October 31, ending at 10:59am Eastern Time / 4:59pm Central European Time. To receive a Blue Star code, you must buy the arcade racer during this time frame.
The ongoing promotion known as “The Blue Star” deal is part of Sega’s strategy to encourage more people to create a Sega Account, much like they did with previous promotions for games such as “Shinobi: Art of Vengeance”, “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii”, and “Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army”. In addition, hints from recent teasers imply that “Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds” will draw heavily on references from “Sonic Riders”.
