A day prior to the cinema debut of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Paramount Pictures has officially announced the sequel in the franchise. Initially leaked by Variety, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is set to hit theaters in the spring of 2027.
Further information regarding the plot of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 remains undisclosed. However, possible hints might stem from spoilers of the recent film, such as the introduction of a fresh character in the post-credits sequence.
In Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the trio of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles make their comeback, with Jim Carrey reprising his role as Dr. Robotnik. For the third movie, Keanu Reeves has been added to the lineup, lending his voice to Shadow the Hedgehog character. Yes, Shadow is armed with a gun in this film.
Judging by initial feedback, the new installment of this series is poised to be another hit. As per Variety’s predictions, it could earn between $55-$60 million during its debut weekend at North American cinemas. The first two films managed to gross approximately $725.4 million collectively.
