Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Might Be Renamed to ‘Sonic CD’

According to a reliable source, Paramount is thinking about changing the title of the fourth Sonic the Hedgehog movie, which is currently planned for release in March 2027. Reports suggest they want to call it ‘Sonic CD,’ a nod to the popular classic video game of the same name.

I’m really excited about a fourth Sonic the Hedgehog movie! Right now, it’s still in the early stages of planning, but it’ll follow up the third one that came out in December 2024. It’s amazing to think that this series, which started back in February 2020, is going to have four movies!

Sonic CD Could Feature Time Travel Elements

According to industry source DanielRPK, Paramount is considering renaming the fourth Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The most likely new title is reportedly ‘Sonic CD,’ which would be a departure from the naming style used since the first film was being prepared in 2020.

According to DanielRPK (as reported by MaxBlizz), the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is expected to include a time-travel storyline, similar to the plot used in the 1993 game Sonic CD.

We should find out for sure soon, as filming is scheduled to start in the next few months, with a planned release date of March 19, 2027.

The new Sonic game, Sonic Rumble, will be available on mobile and PC starting November 5th. It’s a party royale game featuring a large cast of popular characters.

SEGA recently filed a trademark for Shadow the Hedgehog, and it wasn’t immediately clear what the reason was.
