As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that the journey through Sonic and Shadow’s interconnected worlds in “Sonic Frontiers” has been an exhilarating rollercoaster ride. The blend of classic platforming action with modern open-world exploration is nothing short of brilliant.
In a similar fashion as Sonic Generations, Sonic X Shadow Generations pays tribute to the Sonic franchise by featuring levels, music, bosses, and characters spanning the entirety of the series timeline. This results in an abundance of collectibles, including unlockable skills, music, and artwork from various points throughout the series’ history.
As a dedicated gamer diving into the thrilling world of Sonic X Shadow Generations, I’m on a mission to grab every last trophy or achievement out there! It won’t be a walk in the park, with hidden collectibles to find and S-Ranks to conquer spanning the entirety of both Sonic Generations and Shadow Generations. But fear not, this guide is here to provide an efficient strategy to help me (and you!) navigate through this challenge and secure that coveted Platinum trophy.
Trophy Roadmap for Sonic Generations
Achieving perfection in Sonic Generations involves mastering every level with an S-rank score, conquering all the given challenges, collecting every Red Star Ring, and gaining access to every skill. This guide will walk you through completing each of these tasks one by one.
Step 1: Stages, Challenges, and Red Rings
To achieve a perfect run in Sonic Generations, your initial focus should be on conquering all the game’s primary levels and tasks. It’s best to complete a stage’s challenges as soon as they are accessible, as accomplishing these challenges can unlock fresh abilities that can make subsequent stages less challenging. For instance, you can obtain Classic Sonic’s bubble shield by finishing one of the Chemical Plant challenges, enabling you to use it in other levels and benefit from the bouncing jump while navigating the stages.
You’ll notice that color returns to the area around the completed challenges for both Classic and Modern Sonic in the White Space section. Finishing all available tasks for these characters will make the hub world more vibrant. Additionally, don’t forget to battle any adversaries that show up in the Hub (like Metal Sonic, Shadow, or Silver) to gather three of the Chaos Emeralds. The rest can be found by defeating bosses and completing stages, so by taking these steps, you’ll guarantee finding all seven.
Consider taking a moment to gather the Red Rings in every main stage as you progress through them. Gathering all five for each level rewards a fresh skill for either Classic or Modern Sonic. In the early levels, you can acquire the Treasure Scanner for Classic Sonic by finding five Red Rings in Green Hill Act 2. This will aid you in locating hidden treasures within stages, but it won’t assist you in discovering the new hidden Chao.
If you can’t locate a Red Ring within a particular level, consider chatting with the friend of Sonic who’s hanging out outside that stage. They might offer helpful hints about the elusive Red Rings you’re yet to discover, once you talk to them several times.
Step 2: S-Ranks and Chao Rescue
Once you’ve finished every level, defeated all the final bosses, and gathered the seven Chaos Emeralds, it’s time for S-Ranks and to find the last major collectible in Sonic Generations: Chao. These were introduced in Sonic X Shadow Generations, and you’ll find three in every stage that you need to unlock one of the achievements. However, they don’t provide any extra rewards once collected. They are often hidden in parts of levels you may not explore normally, such as the region beneath a destructible bridge in Green Hill Zone.
To achieve an S-Rank in any Sonic game level, your goal is to reach the finish line as swiftly as you can, without losing lives or restarting from a checkpoint. Remember that in Sonic Generations, higher paths on a stage tend to offer greater speed. So, whenever feasible, opt for the highest path within a stage to shorten your overall time. It may require several attempts, but with practice, you’ll find yourself reaching the end effortlessly and with plenty of extra time.
Step 3: Cleanup
After finishing steps 1 and 2, you’ll almost have all of Sonic Generations’ Trophies; however, there are a few exceptions that you’ll need to find. The “Mad Skillz” trophy is awarded when every skill is unlocked. If any skills are still missing by this stage, ensure to check the shop and purchase any remaining ones they have available.
The last challenge ahead may seem tough, but seeing as you’ve gotten this far, you should be able to handle it just fine. Essentially, you need to defeat the final boss without taking a single hit. The boss’s moves are clearly indicated and there are established strategies for dodging them. To get the “Can’t Touch This” achievement, you’ll have to hone your skills by practicing the boss fight and aiming for a flawless run. Now that you’ve accomplished this task, it’s time to focus on Shadow’s trophies.
Trophy Roadmap for Shadow Generations
In comparison to Sonic’s portion of the game, Shadow’s section has fewer trophies and less stringent conditions; however, achieving a complete 100% will require some dedication and hard work.
Step 1: Stages and Challenges
In the game Shadow Generations, your initial goal is to finish the story by conquering every Stage, Challenge, and Boss Battle. This accomplishment grants you access to all of Shadow’s Doom Powers, which will greatly facilitate your collection endeavors. After completing each stage and challenge once, you can revisit and strive for an S-Rank in each Act. Utilizing the newfound power and knowledge from your previous attempts, this second run should be significantly smoother. Unlike Sonic Generations, Shadow does not suffer a penalty for dying, as long as he reaches the end of the stage within a reasonable timeframe, making S-Ranks easier when playing as Shadow. Additionally, always choosing the highest available path is still sound advice here, and mastering Doom Wing will unlock some particularly tricky shortcuts in various stages.
It’s important to note that Shadow also has two Hard Challenges, and Hard versions of all bosses other than the final boss, which will appear when you activate the Doom Zone in White Space. These Hard Challenges count towards the trophy for completing all Challenges, so make sure you don’t miss them.
Step 2: Collection Keys and Machine Parts
After amassing all your powers and acquiring every S-Rank, it’s now time to seek out all the Collectibles. In Shadow’s levels, these are referred to as “Collection Keys” and there are three types. Each type can open a distinct color of chest in White Space, allowing you to gather different collectibles: Blue keys and chests for Artwork, Green keys and chests for Story Summaries, and Yellow keys and chests for Music.
In every major action and challenge scenario, excluding those triggered by the Doom Zone activation, there are three essential Clue Markers to locate. Therefore, it’s crucial to meticulously examine every corner of each level to find them all.
In White Space, Shadow’s additional items to collect are Machine Parts. These are essential for completing Orbot and Cubot’s mission, with a total of 80 required to be fully accomplished. Since they don’t show up until you’ve reached the final stage, it’s wise to wait until you’ve finished every Shadow Stage before you start hunting them all down. Once collected, these parts will unlock additional artwork for your collection.
After you’ve wrapped up the missions with Orbot and Cubot, locate and unlock all the leftover Treasure Chests scattered across White Space to complete Shadow’s hoard.
Step 3: Cleanup
As a dedicated gamer, there’s just one more challenge left for me to conquer: the elusive “Untouchable” trophy. This prestigious title is awarded when I manage to defeat the final boss without taking a single hit. Compared to Sonic’s equivalent trophy, this task is significantly harder due to the increased difficulty of this formidable opponent. To claim this last trophy I’m missing, I’ll need to meticulously rehearse each phase of the battle, focusing especially on mastering the Doom Morph section that occurs midway through.
