Sony has announced that it is raising the price of the PlayStation 5 (PS5) in the United States.
Effective August 21st, you’ll see an increase in the price for the standard PS5 to $549.99, the digital edition to $499.99, and the Pro version will be priced at $749.99. Each item is being raised by a total of $50 from their original prices.
Just like numerous companies worldwide, we’re facing a tough economic landscape,” Sony stated. “Consequently, we’ve had to make a tough call and will be raising the suggested retail price for PlayStation 5 consoles in the United States, effective from August 21.
Sony’s action mirrors previous price hikes of the platform in various areas, as well as recent price rises by Microsoft and Nintendo for their hardware.
Regarding the prices for PlayStation 5 accessories, they will stay the same as previously suggested. At this time, there are no further price adjustments to be announced in other markets, according to Sony.
