Sony Unveils Marathon Limited Edition PS5 DualSense Controller

With the launch of Marathon just around the corner, Sony is releasing special limited-edition PS5 accessories to mark the occasion. There were doubts whether Bungie’s new game would ever come out, but it’s now scheduled to release on March 5th. Whether Marathon will be a hit remains to be seen, but players will be able to experience it with some unique gear.

Bungie announced their new extraction shooter in 2023, but faced setbacks when concerns arose about copied artwork and initial player feedback wasn’t positive. This led to an indefinite delay for Marathon, making fans worried about whether the game would ever come out. Fortunately, less than a year later, development seems to be back on course, and we now have a confirmed release date, price, and even some related accessories for the PlayStation 5.

Bungie announced the release date for Marathon on January 19th, along with details about pre-order bonuses. Shortly after, Sony revealed special *Marathonthemed DualSense controllers and Pulse Elite wireless headsets. Both accessories will be available starting March 5, 2026 – the same day the game launches. Pre-orders open in the U.S. on January 29th at 10 AM Eastern Time, and in select European countries at 10 AM local time that same day. However, the Pulse Elite headset will only be available to U.S. customers. Sony hasn’t specified how many of each accessory will be made, but warns that quantities are limited, so those interested should pre-order quickly to avoid missing out.

Marathon Limited Edition DualSense and Pulse Elite Release Date and Prices

  • Marathon Limited Edition DualSense — Price: $84.99
  • Marathon Limited Edition Pulse Elite — Price: $169.99
  • Release date: March 5, 2026
  • Pre-orders start January 21 at 10 AM (ET) in the U.S./10 AM local time in the U.K., France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

The special Marathon DualSense controller will cost around $85, the same price as last year’s limited edition Death Stranding controller, but $10 more than the standard DualSense. The Marathon Pulse Elite headset will be $170, which is $20 more expensive than the regular PS5 headset. While this is a price increase, fans might be willing to spend more on accessories since Marathon isn’t a full-priced game. Bungie has also confirmed the standard edition of the game will cost $40.

Following a year of setbacks and public issues for Bungie, it’s hard to predict how fans will react to Marathon. Releasing special PlayStation 5 accessories alongside the game might help build enthusiasm and restore confidence. Despite admitting some recent live service games haven’t performed well, Sony is still committed to this type of game, making a strong promotion for Marathon logical. The Deluxe and Collector’s Editions also offer a variety of bonus items and collectibles for players to enjoy.

It’s a great time to own a PlayStation 5, even beyond the excitement around the game Marathon. Sony recently announced three new colors for the PS5 console and DualSense controllers, and several games are also getting their own unique controller designs. With people already wondering about the PS6, it seems the current PS5 generation is finishing strong. Games like Marathon should contribute to this, though it’s still unclear how popular the game will be until its release this spring.
