During the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience event held in Tokyo on April 27th, a speedrunner managed to complete the upcoming Switch 2 version of “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” astonishingly quickly. This speedrun took place before the release of both the Switch 2 and its launch games, making it the first instance of such a swift clearance for the Switch 2 Edition.
First launched in March 2017, “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” served as a bridge between the old Wii U console and the new Switch, being a cross-generation title. The game was incredibly popular for Nintendo, leading them to produce DLC for it as well as its sequel, “Tears of the Kingdom.” During the April 2nd Nintendo Direct presentation dedicated to the Switch 2, it was confirmed that both “Breath of the Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom” would receive upgraded versions for the Switch 2. These enhanced versions will be a bonus for Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack members. However, the DLC for “Breath of the Wild” will still necessitate an extra purchase for players to enjoy the complete experience.
At a recent event called the “Switch 2 Experience,” held at Makuhari Messe convention center near Tokyo Bay, a Japanese speedrunner named Ikaboze managed to complete the new edition of “Breath of the Wild” in just seven minutes, making it the first time the game was beaten on the Switch 2 system. Ikaboze later shared his experience at the event through a YouTube video, where he discussed the strategies he tried within the 20 minutes allotted for testing how the basic mechanics of “Breath of the Wild” would differ on the Switch 2.
Breath of The Wild Speedrunner Quickly Beats Upcoming Switch 2 Edition
In the game “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” Ikaboze opted not to utilize armor or fairies during his playtime, leaving Link with limited protection. After a failed attempt at launching a “wind bomb” for an advantage, Ikaboze decided to charge directly through Hyrule Castle towards Calamity Ganon, the final boss. Ikaboze quickly noted that despite the enhanced load times and frame rates of the Switch 2 Edition, there were no drawbacks in his “Breath of the Wild” run.

Following his victory against Ganon and upon reaching the end credits, Ikaboze was met with cheers from the event crew and fellow spectators. In the midst of numerous speedruns and the forthcoming Breath of the Wild Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, this game continues to be a popular open-world choice among fans, keeping them occupied for extended periods.
