The computer version of “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” has received Update 3, addressing various visual and performance problems that were impacting the recently launched port of the 2023 original game. This is the third significant update for “Spider-Man 2” since its PC debut on January 30.
Instead of the PS5 debut of Spider-Man 2, the PC version of this action-adventure game encountered multiple technical difficulties upon its release last month, earning criticism from players due to bugs and glitches that initially spoiled their gaming experience. However, since then, several updates and patches have been released to enhance the game’s performance on PC. As a result, Spider-Man 2 has transitioned from receiving “Mixed” reviews at launch to now having “Mostly Positive” reviews on Steam. The developers of Nixxes Software seem committed to maintaining this positive trend with the upcoming rollout of another significant update.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share that on February 20th, I got my hands on the latest update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, dubbed Patch 3 or version 1.218.0.0. This patch has been a game-changer, addressing a multitude of graphic and optimization issues, particularly on PC.
The visual hiccups associated with ray-tracing, reflections, and low-quality textures have finally been squashed in this update. For those of us who game on ultra-wide monitors, the pesky cutscene glitches are now a thing of the past.
Moreover, this patch also introduces support for the latest Nvidia Streamline SDK, version 2.7.2. The PlayStation-published title has seen an upgrade in stability, fixing a specific crash that affected the “Graffiti in Trouble” mission when Spanish was selected as the text language.
Lastly, the new update has given Spider-Man 2’s user interface a facelift, with improvements made to areas such as suit selection and QTE sequences. So, buckle up gamers, it’s time to swing back into action!
On the very same day as Patch 3’s rollout, Marvel’s Spider-Man’s latest installment was confirmed as a Steam Deck Verified title. This means it is now officially compatible with Valve’s portable device. As a result, all three games that Insomniac Games have released under their IP are now included in the expanding library of Steam Deck-compatible titles. The original game and the Miles Morales spin-off were already verified prior to this announcement.
Despite some initial technical issues with Spider-Man 2, as a gamer I jumped right into what makes the PC gaming experience special: modding! From a mod that enhances New York City’s visual flair to another that lets Post Malone’s “Sunflower” play during the main menu, there’s quite an assortment of PC mods for Spider-Man 2 players to choose from.
