Spider-Man 2 PC Reviews

Initially, it was anticipated to be a straightforward victory. A day before the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC, Sony made an exciting announcement – their latest port wouldn’t necessitate a PlayStation Network account. This move would grant players early access to a couple of Spidey suits, but honestly, it’s not a major advantage.

A significant source of excitement arose from the PC specifications shared by Nixxes. Players were taken aback when they saw the recommended hardware requirements posted. Even with ray tracing turned off, you’d require either an RTX 3060 or RX 5700 to maintain a smooth 60 frames per second at 1080p resolution.

In my gaming experience, hitting top-notch performance on budget PC setup was more of a dream than reality when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 dropped initially. The main hurdle I faced was graphically intensive crashes that kept me from fully enjoying the game at launch.

What’s Wrong With Spider-Man 2 On PC?

Regardless if you’re just checking the basic specifications or boasting an advanced graphics card such as the RTX 4090Ti, Spider-Man 2 tends to unexpectedly close the game on your screen.

As reported by Steam user Xtreme Hot Diarrhea, a common issue arises: “There seems to be a problem with your graphics card driver.

If the game operates smoothly, numerous users encounter extended loading periods, texture issues, and premium features such as ray tracing and DLSS failing to function optimally.

User KyoKat, operating the game using an RTX 4060Ti, suspects that memory leaks could be causing the issue, as the game fully utilizes VRAM on the Very High graphics setting without ray-tracing. They advise adhering to the High preset temporarily and adjusting settings before launching the game in an attempt to avert crashes.

On portable devices such as handheld players, the game Spider-Man 2 hasn’t been officially verified for Steam Deck operation. However, a user named Adravil claims that it is playable at a “mostly stable 800p30” frame rate, given that you’re using upscalers and have the graphics settings set to their lowest level.

So far, responses from Nixxes have been somewhat sparse. The studio advises users to refer to their usual troubleshooting resources, and they are asked to provide logs and error reports if issues continue, a situation that several gamers find themselves in.

It appears that many Steam users are enjoying the game without issues, suggesting that more people might get to join the fun when a stability update becomes available.
