Spider-Man 4 LEAKED: Two Villains Confirmed?! You Won’t Believe Who!

Summary

  • Tom Holland will reportedly face two antagonists in Spider-Man 4.
  • Steven Yeun is rumored to play Mr. Negative, while Sara Snook will possibly play the female villain.
  • Yeun’s potential role in the Spider-Man sequel ties in thematically with the character he was originally going to play in Thunderbolts*, Sentry.

In the upcoming movie titled “Spider-Man: A Fresh Start,” Tom Holland is set to continue his superhero character. As per a source close to the production, Holland’s character, Peter Parker, will encounter two adversaries in his fourth Spider-Man film.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Tom Holland has become the preferred choice for portraying Spiderman on the silver screen, given he’s starred in more Spider-Man movies than Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. With three solo Marvel Cinematic Universe films under his belt – Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) – Tom Holland is gearing up for his fourth film. Recently, a movie insider shared some tantalizing insights about the upcoming Spider-Man film in a podcast, hinting at potential villains that could make an appearance in the upcoming superhero blockbuster.

In the recent episode of The Hot Mic podcast, film expert Jeff Sneider discussed the latest Spider-Man rumors with John Rocha. According to Sneider, there’s speculation that Mr. Negative will be the primary villain, and a secondary female character is also being considered as an antagonist. He mentioned that Saoirse Ronan (Succession star) could potentially play this female role, while Steven Yeun might take on the part of Mr. Negative due to his previous involvement with the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Thunderbolts team. Rocha suggested this is plausible because Yeun has reportedly been linked to another Marvel project, possibly Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Last year, Yeun shared his decision to leave the Thunderbolts team earlier than expected. The star of Invincible explained that a clash in schedules led to his departure from the project. With various productions delayed due to the pandemic and Hollywood strikes, when it was possible to film, he found himself juggling numerous tasks. In the end, he chose to relinquish his role in Thunderbolts, but expressed openness to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe at a later time.

Meanwhile, Stephen Oyoung, who voices Mr. Negative in the Marvel’s Spider-Man video game, hinted at speculation about the villain possibly appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He suggested he had some inside knowledge, but revealed that Sony hasn’t reached out to him yet. Despite this, he remains optimistic that Mr. Negative will make an appearance on the silver screen, even if another actor may take on the role.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Having Two Villains Makes Sense When Considering The Franchise’s History

It’s true that Sneider makes a valid observation about the multiple villains in the Spider-Man series. In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Adrian Toomes/Vulture, portrayed by Michael Keaton, was the primary antagonist, while Hernan Schultz/Shocker, played by Bokeem Woodbine, served as a secondary adversary. In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Quentin Beck/Mysterio, acted by Jake Gyllenhaal, was the main villain, with the Elementals serving as his manipulated supporting antagonists. However, in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spidey confronts a group of villains, led by Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, played by Willem Dafoe. Other adversaries include Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), Max Dillon/Electro (Jamie Foxx), Flint Marko/Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), and Curt Connors/Lizard (Rhys Ifans).

It’s intriguing to see Simu Liu taking on the antagonist role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a part that isn’t entirely unlike his portrayal in Thunderbolts*. Although Mr. Negative and Sentry are distinct characters, they share common themes, such as having dual personas. Mr. Negative, who is both a benevolent philanthropist (Martin Li) and a ruthless crime boss (Mr. Negative), and Sentry, whose split personality includes the superhero Sentry and his dark counterpart, the Void, both embody the struggle of light versus darkness within them. They also have manipulative powers; Mr. Negative’s “Negative Touch” can alter personalities and weaken enemies, while the Void can manipulate reality, fear, and minds. If Liu is cast as Mr. Negative, it could be seen as a role close to his portrayal of Sentry.

(*Note: Thunderbolts is not yet confirmed for release)

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
