As a dedicated Splatoon fan since its debut, I can hardly contain my excitement about the return of Frosty Fest in Splatoon 3! I vividly remember the first time I experienced this winter wonderland back in January 2024, and now I get to relive it all over again. The snow-covered landscapes, festive decorations, and seasonal headgear are just some of the reasons why Frosty Fest is my favorite Splatfest event.
The highly anticipated winter-themed Frosty Fest event in Splatoon 3 will return next year, with the festivities kicking off on January 11th. Previously missed players will also receive some free rewards as part of the Frosty Fest rerun. This is the second seasonal Splatfest theme to make a comeback, following Splatoween which occurred in October.
In a significant turn of events, the conclusion of Splatoon 3’s Grand Festival signaled the end of routine updates for Nintendo’s charming third-person shooter. Although it’s no longer receiving regular content drops, the game continues to undergo weapon tweaks and seasonal events, Frosty Fest being one such example. This special event alters the game’s main hub world to match the season, transforming Splatsville into a winter wonderland for Frosty Fest, complete with snow-covered buildings and festive floats. The inaugural Frosty Fest in Splatoon 3 took place midway through January 2024, and the subsequent event is scheduled for the same time in 2025.
The official Twitter account for “Splatoon” has revealed the theme of the 2025 Frosty Fest, happening from January 11-13, 2025. Unlike last year’s Frosty Fest where players were asked who they would spend the holidays with (Friends, Family, or Solo), this year’s event focuses on what brings joy to the player. As a holiday/New Year celebration, players can pick between money, experiences, or gifts as their source of happiness. Shiver symbolizes money, Fyre stands for experiences, and Big Man represents presents.
When is Splatoon 3’s Frosty Fest 2025?
- January 11-13, 2025
To mark the comeback of Frosty Fest, enthusiasts have a chance to obtain complimentary in-game accessories through the Splatoon Switch News channel. These accessories, originating from Splatoon 2, include the Festive Party Cone, New Year’s Glasses DX, Twisty Headband, and an Eel-Cake Hat for your character to wear. This is a unique opportunity for those who may have missed the initial Frosty Fest earlier this year to collect these exclusive Splatoon 3 headgear items for their game.
As the main support for Splatoon 3 winds down, there’s a new Nintendo Switch on the horizon, though its release date remains unannounced. Given this, many fans anticipate that Splatoon 4 could be in development since the Grand Festival concluded earlier this year and may influence the sequel’s direction. For now, players can revisit Splatoon 3 to participate in any seasonal Splatfests they missed.
