As a long-time fan of the Splatoon series, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and sadness at the announcement of the Grand Festival Splatfest in Splatoon 3. The new trailer looks absolutely stunning, with its epic music festival theme, and I’m thrilled that this “biggest Splatfest ever” is set to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the game.
A fresh trailer unveiled yesterday reveals that Nintendo is set to debut a grandiose Splatfest competition in Splatoon 3 on September 12, 2024.
Nintendo made an exciting announcement in tandem with the release of a cinematic trailer, which hinted at an enormous music festival. The festival is scheduled to take place from 5 PM PT on September 12 to 5 PM PT on September 15, 2024.
The trailer hints at Grand Festival being referred to as “the largest Splatfest yet” in its description. This event aims to commemorate the “two-year milestone” of Splatoon 3’s release. Nevertheless, some enthusiasts believe that Grand Festival might mark the conclusion of new content for the game.

As a long-time Splatoon fan and avid collector of amiibo figures, I’m thrilled to hear about today’s exciting announcements from Nintendo. The timing of these revelations is particularly intriguing, coming so soon after the August 2024 Splatfest details were unveiled just a few days ago.
Previously, Nintendo announced their intention to unveil the long-awaited replacement for the Nintendo Switch during this financial year. Given that a new console is forthcoming, it’s logical that the popular Splatoon franchise would progress to a fresh installment.
Currently, Nintendo has yet to officially announce that the Grand Festival marks the conclusion of new features for Splatoon 3. It’s possible that Nintendo may continue to provide technical updates for the game, as well as bring back previously available content.
