As a long-time fan of the Splatoon series, I’m beyond excited for the upcoming final Splatfest in Splatoon 3! The Past, Present, and Future theme really strikes a chord with me, as I’ve been following these characters and their musical journeys since the first game. The Squid Sisters hold a special place in my heart as they were there when it all began. Off the Hook has kept things fresh and fun with their unique styles and catchy tunes, while Deep Cut is the newcomer that’s quickly gaining a following with their innovative sound.

Nintendo announced that the last Splatfest for “Splatoon 3,” initiated on September 13, will feature a theme of deciding among Past, Present, and Future. Launched in 2022, this game has received two years of free updates and content, keeping it lively for fans. One popular community-driven mode is Splatfest, where players join teams and compete to see which side can collectively amass the most points in the Turf War version with a twist. Regularly held Splatfests in “Splatoon 3” offer an engaging take on the classic gameplay.

Earlier in June, hidden details about the upcoming “Splatoon 3” game were unearthed by skilled data diggers and hackers. They discovered signs that the game was approaching its final stages, including a new central hub, updated visuals, and a unique scheduling system. In this schedule, all three idol groups would perform together on the same stage instead of in individual hubs. Nintendo recently revealed more details about this event, known as a Splatfest, and the sides each idol group will represent through a newly released trailer.

At the Grand Festival, the grand finale of Splatoon 3’s Splatfests, you’ll get to enjoy live performances from not one, not two, but all three idol groups: the Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, and Deep Cut. Each group will don new outfits for the occasion, as well as their familiar ones during the initial days. The Grand Festival is scheduled from September 13 to 16, spanning a thrilling three-day run.

When Is Splatoon 3’s Grand Festival Taking Place?

  • September 13-16, 2024
  • Past (Squid Sisters) vs. Present (Off the Hook) vs. Future (Deep Cut)

In the latest Splatfest for “Splatoon 3,” the topic is about the significance of the Past, Present, or Future. A change from past events where Deep Cut members took on opposing sides, now three popular idol groups will represent each theme: The Squid Sisters for Team Past, Off the Hook for Team Present, and Deep Cut for Team Future.

These sides do make a bit of sense, as the Squid Sisters were the ones that started it all, Off the Hook is still thriving in the present day of Splatoon 3, and Deep Cut is the fresh, new talent that is succeeding both. With this being the last Splatfest, it’s likely the results of the Grand Festival Splatfest will determine the potential direction of Splatoon 4. This wouldn’t be too surprising, as prior Splatoon games were influenced by their predecessor’s last Splatfest’s results. Nintendo will also release a set of Splatoon 3 Amiibo figures based on the Squid Sisters and Off the Hook to celebrate the final Splatfest.
