Splinter Cell Remake’s Director Has Returned to Ubisoft to Finish The Game

David Grivel, the director of the Splinter Cell Remake, is back at Ubisoft to complete the project he began in 2021.

David Grivel revealed on LinkedIn that he’s returning to Ubisoft Toronto to lead the development of the Splinter Cell Remake as its Game Director.

Development of the Splinter Cell Remake began in 2021 under the codename ‘North’, and updates have been scarce since then. TopMob recently reported that the game is being built using the Snowdrop engine and was initially aiming for a 2026 release. However, given recent challenges with the project and Ubisoft overall, that date is likely to change. We’ll share any new information with our readers as soon as we have it.

In early 2025, TopMob received a cinematic clip of the project featuring Irving Lambert and Sam Fisher. Sources indicate that the Splinter Cell Remake is a complete rebuild of the original game, designed for modern players, and not just a visual upgrade.

It’s understood that the game is in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC.

It’s currently unknown what Grivel’s return means for the game’s future, but the fact that development is still ongoing will likely reassure anyone who doubted the project would continue.
