Split Fiction: Hopes Of Spring Walkthrough (Level 3)

In each chapter of the game “Split Fiction“, players will explore fresh environments known as biomes. These levels offer unique abilities for players to utilize throughout their journey. The third level, “Hopes of Spring”, transports players to a mystical forest brimming with puzzles and diverse wildlife. In this chapter, players acquire transformation-focused abilities: Zoe can transform into a fairy or Woodland Spirit (Treant), while Mio can change between a powerful gorilla form and a marine creature.

The Underlands

  1. After entering the first area of Hopes of Spring chapter in Split Fiction, players will need to use Mio’s gorilla abilities to climb the purple vines on top. On the other hand, Zoe’s fairy abilities will come in handy while chaining jumps to get across the gap.
  2. Zoe will keep progressing ahead until she comes across a pathway blocked by rocks. Change into the Treant form and use its ability to lift the rocks and pass through. Meanwhile, Mio will need to transform into her marine (otter) form and swim through the piranha-infested waters to reach across the pond.
  3. Keep progressing through the area until players reach a boulder blocking the path ahead. Use Zoe’s Treant form ability to lift the boulder to allow Mio to break the log across it. Releasing the boulder will allow it to roll down the path and break the blockage ahead.
  4. Now, keep pushing forward after the cutscene until you reach an area with a bird’s nest and purple vines on top. Use Zoe’s Treant ability to catapult Mio to the vines above. Now, Mio needs to climb across the vines while avoiding the bug and jump into the nest. Smash the nest to bring it down, revealing a rope that both players can climb to reach the next area.
  5. Now, keep progressing forward until the game switches to a 2D side-scroller perspective again. Here, Zoe will need to use Treant’s ability and lower the purple vines for Mio to grab them in ape form. Now, Mio can hit the flowers on the ground to turn the direction of the rocks below, allowing Zoe to latch onto them.
  6. The puzzle is simple: Mio will need to time the smash just right for Zoe to have enough time to latch onto the next rock without getting hit by the bugs.
  7. After getting across the rock puzzle, Mio will need to activate the flower winds in the proper order quickly to help Zoe reach over the log in her fairy form. Traversing the area further will get players to the next sublevel of the chapter.

Lord Evergreen

  1. Now, Zoe needs to get on the wooden pole while Mio transforms into the marine otter form and grabs the pole. The objective here is that Mio will swim across the waters while dragging the pole with her, while Zoe will need to shift her position on the pole to avoid getting caught by carnivorous plants.
  2. After getting to the next section, Zoe must first hop onto the land on the left and use the Treant ability to push the wall of flowers back. Once the wall is pushed back, hop back on the pole, and Mio will safely drag Zoe to the next section.
  3. The next section is going to be a bit tricky as Mio’s speed will be crucial. Mio will swim toward the left while Zoe will quickly hop onto the pole. However, the pole will start to submerge in the water. So, Mio will have to quickly circle back to Zoe to help her grab the pole and swim to the next area.
  4. Players will spot the first side story for the Hopes of Spring chapter here, the Train Heist in Split Fiction. Either start the side story or start climbing over the poles on the left to reach the next area.
  5. This area is fairly simple, Zoe will need to use Treant’s ability to control the overhead vines while Mio grabs them in ape form and crosses over to the next area. You’ll have to be mindful of the bugs crawling above.
  6. The last puzzle of the Lord Evergreen sublevel requires Zoe to use Treant’s ability to pull the log back. Meanwhile, Mio will need to pick up the egg from the nest, and place it on the seesaw. Now, as soon as Mio jumps on the other end, the egg will lift into the air. Right as this happens, Zoe will need to release the log as it hits the egg and opens up the pathway to the next sublevel.

Heart of the Forest

  1. The Heart of the Forest sublevel is relatively short. Players will have to keep going forward until they reach a vine-covered dome. Mio can break off the vines, allowing Zoe to interact with the sigil on the ground and fuse herself with the earth.
  2. Now, Zoe will be able to interact with the environment, open up pathways for Mio to pass safely. The first hurdle is a row of spikes that Zoe can disable.
  3. Beyond the spikes, Mio will need to climb a totem pole. Zoe can both activate platforms, as well as rotate the pole to make a traversable pathway for Mio.
  4. After reaching the top, Mio can turn into the ape form and grab the overhead vines to reach the next area. Zoe will need to disable row of spikes in the vines to create a safe passage for Mio.
  5. Now, Zoe can control the large tree by spinning it. Mio will need to walk across the tree along the non-webbed path. At the end, Zoe will need to move the bark of the tree to allow Mio to cross the spike pit.
  6. After jumping off the tree, Mio will need to break the ground and players will progress to the next sublevel of Hopes of Spring chapter in Split Fiction.

Mother Earth

  1. In Mother Earth sublevel, Zoe will be still merged with the environment, allowing Mio to pass through various hurdles. Zoe will need to control the plants and eat the bugs on the vines letting Mio climb across them.
  2. Next, Mio will need to jump in said plants, allowing Zoe to catapult her head to the vine across. Mio needs to jump into the plant again and catapult from plant to plant. Mio will eventually need to turn into the marine-otter form and jump into the water.
  3. Now, Zoe will need to control the rocks to increase the water level, allowing Mio to jump into the next body of water.
  4. Repeat this process until Mio passes through a small gap and falls into water infested with predator fishes. In the first encounter, Zoe must shield Mio from the predator fish by either moving the rock slab over her, or trapping the predator under the rock slab.
  5. In the next section, Mio will need to quickly hide inside the underwater reeds to hide from predator. Once the fish passes, Zoe will grow the next portion of reeds and Mio will need to quickly hide in those.
  6. Towards the end, Mio will get chased by one of the predator fishes, until she escapes the water and slides down into the next sublevel of Hopes of Spring in Split Fiction.

Walking Stick of Doom

  1. In the Walking Stick of Doom sublevel, players must make it across the rope bridge and arrive at an open area to find the second side story, the Gameshow in Split Fiction.
  2. Now traverse forward by grappling onto a tree. Mio will need to break off the clump of vines on the tree in ape form, and Zoe will interact with it in Treant form, taking control of the Walking Stick of Doom.
  3. Now, Zoe will need to control the big tree monster, using scream ability (energy beam) to break any barricade in the path. Meanwhile, Mio will need to stay in her ape form, and keep enemy monkey off Zoe.
  4. Players will need to keep at until the tree monster approaches an open door and players fall into the next sublevel of the Hopes of Sping chapter.

Silly Monkeys

  1. Inside the Silly Monkey’s sublevel, players will need to traverse up the valley until they reach a clump of vines. Mio must beak the vines in her ape form, and get to a higher platform to use the overhead vines to reach the top of the river.
  2. Zoe must fly using the wind from the flower and reach the other side, where she must use her Treant ability to interact with the flower to unblock the river passage. This will allow Mio to swim through the river, and shoot up the gap over the water wheel to the other side of the mountain. Now, Mio must break the rock, revealing a secret passage, with Zoe following her.
  3. After moving past the hidden passage, players will arrive in a field of red flower petals that hide dangerous traps. To avoid getting caught in the traps, move over the logs of wood to reach across the field.
  4. Use the grappling hook to reach higher ground and players will arrive at a pond. Mio must use her marine-otter form and hit the collapsed wood poles underwater to bring them up. Mio will need to do this quickly as the wood poles will eventually collapse again.
  5. After Zoe quickly traverses the wood poles, she’ll reach the other side of the pond.
  6. Here, Zoe will need to use the Treant form to lower the overhead vines while Mio uses her otter form to jump up into the air and grab them.
  7. After manipulating multiple tree trunks, Mio will reach atop a flower bud that she’ll need to smash to lower it. Now, Zoe will bloom the flower and take Mio to an elevated section.
  8. Now, players will traverse the section ahead, evading monkeys, and arriving at three totems in front of a locked door.
  9. To solve the Totem Pole puzzle, players will need to suspend each totem pole to match the sequence on the door. To do this, Mio will smash the totem pole while Zoe will need to use the Treant’s ability to grasp the totem pole in the correct position (for a limited time). Here’s the solution to the Totem Pole puzzle in Split Fiction.
    1. Mio will smash the totem on the right first, and Zoe will suspend it on the face with the red marking.
    2. Next, Mio will smash the middle totem, and Zoe will suspend it on the face with yellow tusks.
    3. Lastly, Mio will mash the totem on the left and Zoe will suspend it on the face with blue fangs.
  10. Once done correctly, the door will open, allowing players to progress to the next sublevel with the boss fight.

It Takes Three to Tango (Boss Fight)

Once they enter the “It Takes Three to Tango” sublevel, gamers will encounter an amusing battle with the Monkey King. Let me provide you with a summary of each stage.

This should be more conversational and easier to understand:

Inside the “It Takes Three to Tango” sub-area, players will come across a wacky boss fight against the mischievous Monkey King. Here’s a simplified explanation of every phase he goes through during the battle.

Upon entering the “It Takes Three to Tango” mini-level, gamers will find themselves up against an entertaining showdown with the Monkey King as the boss. I’ve outlined each stage for you below.

Both sentences convey the same information but are worded differently, providing variety and ensuring that readers can comprehend the content easily.

  1. Phase One: The Monkey King will play a game of ‘follow the leader,’ where players will have to carefully observe the order in which he steps on the five platforms. After that, players will have to follow his lead and repeat his actions.
  2. Phase Two: In this phase, players will have to gather the monkeys that match their respective colors, i.e. pink and green. If players intersect their own or another player’s line of monkeys, they’ll disperse, breaking the conga line. Once all the monkeys are gathered, each player will need to align them into their respective areas, i.e. pink on the left and green on the right.
  3. Phase Three: The Monkey King will strike a pose in a specific direction (up, down, left, right) and players will have to follow suit. The dance moves will increase in speed and players will have to catch up. If players input in the wrong direction, the Monkey King will throw a monkey at their head.

Once all phases are complete, the Monkey King will allow players passage to the Ice King’s castle.

Halls of Ice

  1. After exiting the monkey kingdom, approach the outskirts of the Ice King’s castle. Players will spot a clump of vines that Mio can break, allowing Zoe to fly to the other side in her fairy form.
  2. Once Zoe reaches the other side, she’ll need to use her Treant form ability to control the pillar, allowing Mio to cross on to the other side. Once both players are on the other side, open the large doors to arrive at the Ice King’s castle entrance.
  3. The front door will be locked, but Mio can break the vines next to the tree in her ape form, allowing Zoe to fly into the keyhole. Here, Zoe will need to activate the lock mechanism, and rotate each button to match the four symbols on the front of the door.
  4. After matching each symbol, Mio needs to punch that symbol until all four mechanisms are completed. Here’s the correct order of rotations for each button inside the keyhole.
    1. Zoe: Rotate the first button 2 times | Mio: Punch the second symbol.
    2. Zoe: Rotate the second button 3 times | Mio: Punch the fourth symbol.
    3. Zoe: Rotate the third button 2 times | Mio: Punch the first symbol
    4. Zoe: Rotate the fourth button 3 times | Mio: Punch the third symbol
  5. If players complete the puzzle within 25 seconds, the door to the castle will open. After entering, players will need to slide the block into the green corridor to progress to the next area. The puzzle is a little tricky, so here’s a video detailing how to solve the ice block puzzle in the Hopes of Spring chapter of Split Fiction.
  6. After solving the ice block puzzle, head down the newly opened corridor using small-sized transformations. In the connecting room, Mio needs to stay in her marine-otter transformation and head under the frozen pond.
  7. Mio will interact with the flower bud underwater, and launch it up, breaking the ice. As soon as the flower bud is up in the air, Zoe will grab it in her Treant form and launch it at a window nearby to break it.
  8. Now, climb through the broken window and make your way over the rails and into the Ice King’s castle. Along the way, you’ll encounter the last side story bubble for the Collapsing Star in Split Fiction.
  9. Once inside the castle, use the grappling hooks to get across the gap. Now, enter the hallway to the left to reach the icy courtyard with the Ice King’s statue. Pull the statue down to break the ice, allowing Mio to head underwater and launch a flower bud in the air. Now, Zoe will grab that bud and launch it towards the large door, bursting it open. This will progress players into the final sublevel for Hopes of Sping.

The Ice King (Boss Fight)

As players enter the grand throne room, they’ll stumble upon a feline that gradually metamorphoses into the Ice King. Prepare for the imminent boss fight, as you’ll find yourselves cornered on a solitary platform, with the Ice King emerging beneath a mirror-like surface.

  1. The initial phase is quite simple; players will have to dodge the Ice King attacks on the platform. The platform will shatter after every attack, until it completely breaks, sending players down to the main arena.
  2. Now the first phase of the Ice King boss fight will begin, as players will need to dodge energy-infused claw attacks and Icy shockwaves. After sending out two shockwaves, Ice King will charge up a third one, opening itself to Zoe’s Treant ability to grab it.
  3. Once the Ice King is wrapped in Zoe’s vines, Mio should start punching the trapped Ice King in her ape form. Once the Ice King recovers, it’ll send down glowing ice blocks from above, finishing the attack by jumping in the middle. Dodge this attack and wait for the Ice King to send out the shockwaves again to repeat the attacking strategy.
  4. After inflicting enough damage on the boss, it’ll send players down sliding to the next arena, starting off Phase two. This phase can be a little tougher as Ice King’s main attack is unleashing a tornado in the middle of the arena, while sending out smaller ones to damage players.
  5. After surviving this attack, Mio will need to use her otter form and dive into the pond and send out a flower bud. Zoe will grab the bud and launch it towards the Ice King, incapacitating it. Now, Mio will get out of the pound and start punching the Ice King.
  6. The last phase will get trickier as Ice King will freeze the pond, preventing Mio from entering it. So, wait for the boss to send out explosive furballs at the players. Try to stay on the frozen pond so the furballs explode over it. After enough explosions, the lake will open up again, allowing players to repeat the attacking process. This will defeat the Ice King, making the end of the Hopes of Spring chapter in Split Fiction.
