It’s been announced that the much-loved cooperative game “Split Fiction” will retail for $49.99 on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, with pre-orders available starting April 24th. Since its launch in March 2025, Hazelight Studios’ latest title has been a massive success, and players who acquire the Nintendo Switch 2 this summer will get to enjoy “Split Fiction” like never before.
In the year 2025, only two games have received a critic score of 90 – one of them is “Split Fiction”, alongside the recently launched puzzle adventure game called “Blue Prince”. Similar to Hazelight’s previous Game of the Year winner, “It Takes Two”, Split Fiction is exclusively designed for split-screen multiplayer, where two players collaborate to complete a series of complex challenges. The narrative revolves around two authors, Mio Hudson and Zoe Foster, who are transported into their own stories and must evade a device engineered to swipe their creative ideas. Not long after the launch of “Split Fiction”, news broke about its movie adaptation, spearheaded by media company Story Kitchen. This isn’t a new venture for Hazelight Studio, as adaptations – both films and TV series – based on “It Takes Two” are being developed at dj2 Entertainment Studios. However, no dates for these projects have been set yet.
Although they’re renowned for cooperative games, some fans are curious about what kind of solo game Hazelight Studios might create. While they have stated their intention to concentrate on two-player games, it’s possible that we could see a single-player title from them at some point in the future.
