Splitgate 2 is Relaunching Later This Month as ‘SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded’

Splitgate 2 is getting a fresh start! The game is relaunching later this month as SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded. Developers 1047 Games haven’t just changed the name – they’ve been actively working to improve the game based on what players have been saying.

The game has been completely rebuilt with improved graphics, streamlined heroes and abilities, and lessons learned from both previous versions. As shown in the recent YouTube trailer, developers took what worked best from Splitgate 1 and 2 and removed the less successful elements.

SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded has been updated with player statistics, leaderboards, and a career progression system, offering a more competitive experience. According to Josh Watson, the game will launch with five new maps, four new weapons, and several new game modes, with even more content planned for release in the coming weeks.

Splitgate’s Redemption Arc?

As a big fan of the original Splitgate, I was really disappointed when Splitgate 2 launched earlier this year. It just didn’t click with players, and they quickly lost interest, so the developers had to take it offline and revert back to a beta version. Things got even tougher after the CEO, Ian Proulx, made some comments at Summer Games Fest that a lot of people didn’t like. Honestly, after that, it was an uphill battle to get anyone excited about the game.

Recently, 1047 Games appears to be turning things around. They’ve started listening to player feedback and have distanced Proulx from the game’s promotion. Initial reactions to the new trailer on YouTube suggest renewed player interest, which would be a significant comeback for the developers if they can maintain this momentum.

The game will be available to download and play for free on December 17th for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. A new trailer has also been released.
