Splitgate 2 gameplay

In simple terms, Splitgate 2 is developed using Unreal Engine 5 and offers gameplay akin to its original version. This new installment is still a multiplayer shooting game that lets players create portals at will. However, an exciting addition is the inclusion of factions in this sequel.

In the cinematic trailer, it appeared that there were three distinct groups, each identifiable by their unique colors – pink, purple, and orange. These groups are likely to have distinct capabilities, adding a hero-shooter dimension to Splitgate’s thrilling portal gameplay.

In the movie preview, certain skills were displayed. One character put up a shield, another carried a portable portal, and the third was able to detect enemies behind walls.

An additional feature included a disc that shattered upon collision and a freezing bomb in the game. It’s possible these items were equippable rather than skills, although that’s only an assumption.

Story

As a long-time fan of multiplayer shooter games, I was initially disappointed to learn that Splitgate doesn’t offer a single-player mode. However, after reading the latest PlayStation blog post, my perspective has shifted. The announcement that 1047 Games brought on a narrative writer to build the game’s lore and universe really piqued my interest.

It’s probable that this will be accomplished using the faction mechanism, as evidenced by the cinematic preview where three distinct characters were prominently featured.
