In July 2024, it was announced that Splitgate 2, the follow-up to the popular 2019 PvP arena shooter Splitgate, would be released. Similar to its original version, this sequel incorporates first-person shooter action with a twist – portals for an exciting and fast-paced way of moving around maps. To keep it interesting, new maps, weapons, game modes, and more have been added in the sequel. Notably, Splitgate 2 introduces three distinct factions, each granting specific powers and items to players catering to various playstyles. Although everything about Splitgate 2 seems set for success, its open beta had a minor hiccup.
When the beta version of “Splitgate 2” was launched on May 22nd, numerous technical issues and gameplay glitches prevented many players from accessing key features or even connecting to the game, causing the servers to be shut down just hours after the launch. In response, 1047 Games issued a public apology. Now, their official Twitter account has announced that “Splitgate 2″‘s open beta is operational again, but there’s something important to consider for those eager to join in. The studio has reopened the “Splitgate 2” open beta with certain limitations, meaning login queues and a cap on the number of players have been put in place to ensure server stability.
Splitgate 2 Open Beta Servers Are Stable For Now
Based on feedback from players and reports from 1047 Games, matches in the open beta of Splitgate 2 are generally running well, which is a good indication at this stage. The development team is also working diligently to address three main concerns. Initially, they aim to restore cosmetics that didn’t appear in players’ collections, which have been kept separate and haven’t vanished. Secondly, they plan to reinstate the XP and leveling systems, which have shown inconsistencies since the launch of the open beta for Splitgate 2. Last but not least, they will progressively expand server capacity to accommodate more players while maintaining the integrity of the infrastructure under heavy usage.
Some “Splitgate 2” enthusiasts might feel a bit disheartened by the delayed start of the open beta, but this cautious strategy will allow 1047 Games to effectively manage server traffic without encountering severe technical glitches like during the initial launch. It’s also important to mention that the “Splitgate 2” open beta is planned to stay accessible until the game’s complete release, which is expected later this summer.
