The recent announcement by 1047, the developers behind the popular 2021 team shooter Splitgate, about their next project – Splitgate 2 – piqued my interest big time.
Upon its debut in 2021, Splitgate generated significant buzz due to its innovative blend of multiplayer shooter mechanics and physics elements, granting players the ability to quickly traverse map areas via “gates.” Numerous critics compared it to a fusion of Halo and Portal, an assessment that resonated with audiences, ultimately leading to over two million active players at its peak.
As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’m thrilled to hear that Splitgate is reportedly working on a sequel, Splitgate 2. Having played and enjoyed the original game, I’m eager to see how they build upon its unique blend of portal-based multiplayer mayhem and Halo-inspired shooter mechanics.
