Despite launching late in the month, NBA 2K26 was the top-selling game in the US for August 2025. New sales data from Circana, covering August 3rd to 30th, shows that even with only two days of sales, NBA 2K26 still managed to reach the number one spot.
I’ve been keeping up with all the game announcements, and it looks like Madden 26 is coming in at number two on the list! The top five is rounded out by some awesome titles: Mafia: The Old Country, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, and the new EA Sports College Football 26. I’m really excited about all of these!
Seven new games entered the top 20 this month. Along with the four previously mentioned, Gears of War: Reloaded, the Madden 26 and College Football 26 bundle from EA Sports, and Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar also made the list. Plus, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: The Hinokami Chronicles 2, Helldivers 2, and Hogwarts Legacy all returned to the top 20 after being absent in July.
Several games have recently dropped out of the top 20 bestsellers, including Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, F1 25, MLB The Show 25, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Split Fiction, EA Sports FC 25, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and both versions of Elden Ring (the standard edition and Elden Ring Nightreign).
