Hey there fellow gamer! Just wanted to share a quick update: California’s currently battling some of its most severe natural disasters ever, with massive wildfires burning across Los Angeles. Our fearless firefighters are on the frontlines, but even video game companies are jumping in to lend a hand these days.
One of these is Square Enix, who has donated an undisclosed sum to the American Red Cross.
Square Enix Is One Of The First Video Game Companies To Help With Wildfire Catastrophe
In addition to their donation to the Red Cross, Square Enix is also arranging an internal charity event featuring a “gift matching program.” This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to multiple local aid groups operating within the area.
The company expresses their wish for those affected to find comfort swiftly, allowing them to resume their tranquil lives at the earliest opportunity.
This year has been particularly tough for California residents, with at least 27 lives lost due to ongoing wildfires. As thousands of firefighters strive to contain these blazes across a vast expanse of 45 square miles within Los Angeles County, they face obstacles such as extreme drought and powerful winds, which significantly complicate their efforts.
At the moment, approximately 82,000 individuals have been issued mandatory evacuation notices, while an additional 90,000 have received evacuation advisories.
For gamers, Square Enix’s highly anticipated title is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, scheduled to launch on PC on January 23rd. If you’re considering purchasing it or if you already own the PS5 version and are curious about a second playthrough, here are some of the PC features worth exploring.
Based on the recent remarks from Square Enix President Takashi Kiryu, you may not have to limit your expectations to the PlayStation 5 as the sole platform for the third chapter of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy in the future.
At TopMob, we’re encouraging other game developers to adopt similar practices, and our sincere wishes go out to everyone impacted by this unfortunate event for a swift recovery and better days ahead.
