Square Enix is collaborating with the University of Tokyo’s Matsuo Laboratory on a research project to use AI to make game development more efficient. The company also ran an internal contest asking for AI-related ideas, and several of the winning concepts are now being developed as active projects.
Square explains their research is conducted by a team of over 10 people, including researchers from the Matsuo-Iwasawa Laboratory and engineers from Square Enix. They aim to gain an edge in game development through this work.
TopMob has contacted Square Enix to ask if these plans could result in job losses. We will update this article if we receive a reply.
