Summary
- Square Enix’s mysterious tweet with “Yuna” has fans hopeful for a Final Fantasy X sequel or remake.
- Fans speculate the tweet signifies interest in the character Yuna and a potential game revival.
- Considering past releases of Final Fantasy X, fans are left wondering if a remake is on the horizon.
It’s been reported recently that there are ongoing development efforts by Square Enix for the remake of not one but two classic Final Fantasy games: Final Fantasy 9 and Final Fantasy Tactics.
Yet, a brief tweet from Square Enix’s official X account has sparked nostalgia and prompted requests for a reboot or follow-up to the beloved game, Final Fantasy X.
Square Enix’s Mysterious Tweet Puts People In A Frenzy

The official Square Enix Twitter/X account tweeted (X’ed?) the following word today:
Mentioning ‘Yuna’ sparked an outpouring of affection from Role-Playing Game (RPG) enthusiasts, recalling the beloved character from Final Fantasy X.
As a die-hard Final Fantasy fan, I can’t help but wonder about the mystery behind this tweet. Fans like me are already buzzing with excitement, speculating if it hints at another installment of Final Fantasy X, a remake of our beloved game, or simply expressing their admiration for the iconic character, Yuna.
If you haven’t played Final Fantasy X before, it came out on the PlayStation 2 in 2001. It was the tenth major game in the series and the first to offer fully three-dimensional environments and voice acting. The game’s protagonist, Tidus, had feelings for Yuna, although a sequel titled Final Fantasy X-2 (also known as Final Fantasy 10-2) was released in March 2003. This game focuses on Yuna as she looks for Tidus.
It seems unlikely that the tweet has anything to do with a new tweet or remake, considering there isn’t yet a release date for Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s third installment. Maybe Square Enix is gauging interest in the character, or perhaps the person managing their social media accounts was just having some fun (I’m leaning towards the latter).
Back in 2013, Square Enix debuted the HD Remaster of Final Fantasy X/X-2 on both PS3 and PS Vita consoles. A PS4 adaptation followed in 2015, with the Windows version appearing in 2016, and the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One versions emerging in 2019. Given that Square Enix might create a remake of Final Fantasy X, would it spark enthusiasm among role-playing game enthusiasts? Alternatively, should Square Enix prioritize a remake of Final Fantasy VIII and tackle this one later?
