Squirrel With a Gun Hands On – Another Indie Must Buy

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that Squirrel With A Gun has quickly become one of my favorite Indie discoveries at this year’s Gamescom. It’s not every day you find a game where you can wreak havoc as a gun-toting squirrel!

Once more, Gamescom has arrived and is home to several major games set for release in the upcoming period. However, beyond the long lines and unusual odors, there’s a hidden gem nestled within the Independent section – the captivating Indie game titled “Squirrel With a Gun.” While you may have already encountered viral clips of this game, today I had the pleasure of trying it out myself. Developed by a team of three talented creators over the past couple of years, this intriguing little game is definitely worth checking out!

In this game, you assume the role of a mischievous squirrel, who, as the title implies, carries a firearm (there’s a wide variety of guns available, ranging from pistols to SMGs to rocket launchers). Additionally, you can drive a miniature sports car, pilot a drone, employ melee weapons, and even utilize a cake in your adventures.

While immersed in gameplay, I completed the tutorial and initial pre-open world stages as a sneak peek at what’s expected post-launch. The game was enjoyable right from the start, with the control of gun recoil for jumping and maneuvering feeling intuitive. Interestingly, gun recoil is not just functional but also adds a creative touch to enemy takedowns, providing some amusing moments. Although I tested only a few weapons during my trial, each one left me grinning with satisfaction.

Exploring an open world filled with chaos is what Squirrel with a Gun offers! This game combines platforming challenges with puzzle-like levels, all while you gather as many acorns as possible. Acquired acorns and golden acorns can be traded for additional cosmetics, weapons, and amusing ways to take out agents in the game. At only $20, I’d say it’s not a nutty idea to consider giving Squirrel with a Gun a try when it launches on August 29 for PC. A release on Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5 is planned for this fall.
