STALKER 2 Patch Notes

As a seasoned Stalker with countless hours spent traversing the treacherous wastelands of the Zone, I must say that this latest patch for STALKER 2 has brought a breath of fresh air to our community. It’s been a long and arduous journey since the game’s release, but GSC Game World seems determined to right the ship.

Despite the long wait for STALKER 2, GSC Game World didn’t delay in releasing its first significant update as soon as possible.

The much anticipated follow-up to the STALKER series was disappointingly released in an unsatisfactory condition, yet it still sparked the interest of stalkers globally by creating an engrossing environment.

A single patch is nowhere close to bringing the game to where it needs to be, but this big update is exactly the kind of energy GSC needed to show to inspire confidence among players.

Sadly, it appears that the significant A-Life updates weren’t included in this latest update, according to a representative from GSC on Discord.

Hey there fellow gamers! Excited to share some fresh updates coming your way in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, version 1.0.1! Whether you’re playing on PC or Xbox, grab your gear and get ready for these improvements!

STALKER 2 Patch Notes, Version 1.0.1

The notes have been organized according to their importance, drawing on a wealth of gaming experience spanning an entire month.

Story Fixes

At long last, soft locks have been removed! The update rectified numerous problems that hindered specific quest goals and even main storyline missions from activating correctly.

Fixed quests include, but are not limited to:

  • Nightingale’s Hunt
  • Seek, And You Shall Find
  • There And Back Again
  • A Needle In A HAystack
  • Answers Come At A Price
  • Hot On The Trail
  • In Search Of A Guide
  • The Side Hustle
  • Just Like The Good Old Days
  • To The Last Drop Of Blood
  • On The Edge
  • A Minor Incident
  • In Search Of Past Glory
  • Visions Of Truth
  • Dangerous Visitors
  • Gray’s Last Hunt
  • The Eternal Shining
  • The Boundary
  • Escape From The Cage
  • Down Below
  • Budmo
  • A Big Score
  • Once More Into The Breach
  • A Tough Awakening

Instead of listing all the quests that needed fixing, wouldn’t it be more concise to just name those that didn’t require any adjustments?

Optimization

The new patch fixes memory leaks that made the game nearly unplayable for long stretches.

In the process of taking aim, any non-player characters (NPCs) controlled by the A-Life system that were previously inactive or not visible will now be clearly rendered on screen.

Nvidia Reflex settings should now stick between playing sessions.

Combat Balancing

In response to concerns about mutants being excessively durable, as highlighted frequently on the Nexus Mods forum for STALKER 2, the developers performed a significant adjustment to the balance of most enemy characters.

Enemies such as vampires, dominators, earthworm-like creatures, wild boars, and flesh entities will now have reduced health points. Furthermore, the health regeneration and armor rating of the bloodsuckers have been decreased.

Boars and fleshes take more damage from limb hits as well.

For those stalkers unphased by blood, the fighting range for knives and weapon attacks has been expanded.

Economy Balancing

After a lot of complaints, it is easier to make money in STALKER 2.

The multiplier for mission coupon rewards has been boosted between 2 and 3 times, and equipment repair costs have substantially decreased. Additionally, armor durability has received a 12.5% enhancement, reducing the need for visits to the technician less often.

Exoskeletons, upgraded weapons, and artifacts now sell for considerably more.

Looting expeditions might now prove more feasible, given that the weights of quest items have been significantly reduced. This enhancement is further bolstered by an increase in the carrying capacity of the character “Hercules.

The “infinite money bug” has also been fixed, so now it’s time for you to earn your coupons the fair way, you scoundrel.

Audio

After a battle concludes, there won’t be any more loud music playing, thus eliminating the uncertainty of whether the enemy has retreated completely.

Quality of Life

By default, gamepads currently have an increased “dead zone,” a feature intended to reduce the jerkiness when aiming on uncalibrated joysticks.

Cutscenes and NPCs

In the Zone, it seems that a skilled dentist recently set up shop, as the characters now sport naturally aligned teeth in the latest update (patch 1.0.1).

Facial animations got a pass across the board to make them more natural, which should remove some of that uncanny valley feeling.

In the emissions, Non-Player Characters (NPCs) situated around shelters will no longer become trapped on arbitrary items, avoiding the unfortunate outcome of meeting an untimely demise.

For enthusiasts of Jank, it’s regretful to announce that, upon their passing, human bodies will no longer adopt the T-pose stance. This change should also resolve the issue of random flying Stalkers. Additionally, missing or extended limbs should no longer be an issue.

The World

Buildings with peeling paint (like the Sphere or Icarus) no longer have flickering walls.

Finally, missing fast travel routes with certain guides have been restored.

Again, you won’t find an A-Life solution in this update, as stated by GSC, who promises it’ll arrive soon. For comprehensive details, check out the patch notes posted on the STALKER 2 Steam page.
