Okay, so if you’re like me and still dreaming of a new Star Wars Battlefront game, there’s some good news! Since Battlefront 2 came out eight years ago, we’ve all been waiting for something new, and EA hasn’t said much about it. But a fan actually made a mod that might just hold us over until (hopefully!) we get another official game. It’s not the same, but it’s definitely helping me get my Star Wars fix!
The original Battlefront game came out in 2004, followed by a sequel in 2005. The series was then reimagined with Battlefront in 2015 and Battlefront 2 in 2017. Since the release of the latest game, fans have been hoping for a third installment. While rumors about Battlefront 3 have surfaced over the years, none have materialized. As the wait continues, some fans may be losing hope, but this fan-made modification offers a promising alternative for now.
Fan-Made Battlefront 3 Mod Finally Brings Players New Star Wars Content
A new mod called Battlefront 3 is now available on Nexus Mods. Originally released in an early form (Alpha) in May 2025, the creators plan to add even more content later on. Designed for Battlefront 2, this mod introduces 22 new characters who wield lightsabers, 3 new maps to play on, and a customizable fourth ability for each character. Since a true Battlefront 3 game may never be made, this fan-created mod offers a fresh experience for players.
This mod also adds new movement mechanics: Force Flips and Airborne Force Speed.

While Battlefront 2 had a good selection of characters, many players wanted more. The new Battlefront 3 mod delivers with a significant expansion of the roster, adding 11 Jedi and 11 Sith, including both well-known figures and some lesser-seen characters. But that’s not all – the mod’s developers have revealed plans for even more additions. Future heroes will include popular characters like Poe Dameron, Cassian Andor, and Jyn Erso, and players can look forward to villains such as Jango Fett, Moff Gideon, and Greedo.

Because the mod is still being developed, Battlefront 3 currently has a few bugs and glitches. For instance, characters like Darth Revan, Kit Fisto, Plo Koon, and Aayla Secura can’t block blaster fire, but the developers are working on a fix. Even with these minor issues, this mod offers a unique opportunity to experience a version of Battlefront 3 that might never officially exist. We don’t know which characters EA would include in a real Battlefront 3, but this mod lets players enjoy many of the characters they’ve been requesting for years.
Okay, so this update isn’t exactly what a lot of us Battlefront fans were dreaming of, but it’s still cool to see them trying to keep Battlefront 2 interesting. It’s awesome that the Battlefront games still have such a dedicated fanbase – hopefully, EA will notice and decide to make another one someday. We’ll just have to wait and see, I guess!
