Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Worst Mistakes You Need to Avoid Right Now!

Although it’s more than two years old, “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” continues to be one of the most celebrated and highly-rated Star Wars games developed since Disney took over the franchise. As a sequel to 2019’s “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,” “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” follows the journey of Jedi Knight Cal Kestis and the crew of the Mantis as they search for a secure sanctuary from the Galactic Empire. Although the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S|X versions of “Survivor” were released two years ago, the PS4 and Xbox One versions have only been available for less than a year. Since new players might be just starting to explore Kestis’ sequel storyline, here are some actions that players should try to avoid in “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

The Biggest Mistakes Players Can Make in Jedi: Survivor

Never Returning to Coruscant

In the introduction of Survivor, we’re swiftly introduced to the ongoing perils that Kestis experiences post-Fallen Order‘s events, as well as hinting at an Imperial Coruscant. However, once Kestis embarks on his journey to reach Tanalorr in Survivor, the storyline doesn’t return Kestis to the heart of the Empire. While some players might complete Survivor‘s tale without ever returning to Coruscant, it would be a missed opportunity as there are numerous collectibles and activities to engage with on this imperial planet. These activities encompass a Force Tear featuring a battle against two Rancors, an encounter with a caged Frenzied Jotaz, a fight against the legendary DT-series sentry droid D-L1T, and much more. Overcoming D-L1T will also enable BD-1 to hack damaged DT-series droids.

In the galaxy of Star Wars, I’ve come across quite a few Jotaz, but only one stands out – the Frenzied Jotaz from Coruscant. This is the sole Jotaz I’ve encountered in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, after repeatedly battling them on Zeffo in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Underestimating Battle Droids and the Bedlam Raiders

In the popular show Survivor, one frequently seen group is the Bedlam Raiders. Initially, they might appear less formidable than the Empire due to their use of discarded Clone Wars equipment like Republic ships and Separatist Battle Droids. However, don’t let the humorous B1 droids fool you – the Bedlam Raiders are far more dangerous than they seem.

BX Commando Droids exhibit agile swordsmanship, IG-100 MagnaGuards carry on the intimidating legacy of Separatist bodyguards, and Droidekas can halt progress with their shields and repeating blaster cannons. Beyond reprogrammed droids, Bedlam Raider lieutenants are often found armed with ancient lightsabers and grappling hooks, gifts from their Gen’Dai leader Rayvis. Even the B1 droids can set up dangerous traps using creatures like the Spawn of Oggdo.

Missing Out on Skoova Stev, Bhima Ook, and Tulli Mu

In the game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, you’ll explore several expansive environments including Coruscant, Jedha, Koboh, Koboh’s Shattered Moon, Nova Garon, and Tanalorr. Here, you’ll come across a diverse range of alien creatures and inhabitants, many of whom can only be found during side activities rather than main missions. Although completing the primary storyline is possible without meeting these characters, doing so would mean missing out on enjoyable minigames, intriguing lore, and captivating narratives. Characters like Bhima Ook and Tulli Mu can be found in Koboh’s Boiling Bluff. Once you first meet them, they’ll offer to establish their Holotactics game business in Pyloon’s Saloon, where later on, you can engage in battle simulations against various characters using scans of enemies encountered throughout the game.

Among the captivating secondary characters in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor stands out Skoova Stev, the diminutive master fisherman. During Kestis’ exploration of Koboh, encounters with Stev, usually found aboard his ship near various water bodies while wearing a diving suit, are frequent. He regales the Jedi with thrilling tales of his youth as a fisherman on Sakavi Tar, his exploits with Captain Wan’yek Whett, and his encounters with Purrgil. After sharing a slice of his past, Stev catches a unique fish and delivers it to an aquarium in the heart of Pyloon’s Saloon. Although Skoova Stev’s stories and catch do not impact Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s main storyline directly, he significantly enriches the game’s world-building by demonstrating that any creature, regardless of form or size, can be the protagonist of a compelling saga.
