As a seasoned gamer with memories of countless hours spent navigating the galaxies far, far away, I must confess that Ubisoft’s latest offering, Star Wars Outlaws, has left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed. The game’s release in 2024 was the proverbial nail in the coffin for what I consider to be Ubisoft’s most challenging year ever.
The mediocre response to the release of “Star Wars Outlaws” was the final blow, marking 20XX as Ubisoft’s most challenging year on record.
The game puts you in control of Kay Vess, guiding her through the hidden depths of the galaxy’s criminal underbelly following her departure from Cantonica.
Ubisoft had high hopes that the launch of “Outlaws” would help end their string of difficulties, given the challenges they faced during the year with the Concord series, the delay of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows,” and potential acquisition talks.
If sales fell short of projections, the company made an immediate reorganization, transferring Julian Gerighty to The Division 3 and putting Drew Rechner in his place.
In the world of Tom Clancy’s The Division, Rechner earned a reputation for himself, and he began his role as creative director in the Star Wars Outlaws series with the franchise’s inaugural developer update.
What Is In The Star Wars Outlaws 1.4 Update
Under the title “Revving Up for Hyperdrive,” this post takes us on a journey from the initial launch to the present, and gives us a sneak peek at what lies ahead with the 1.4 update slated for release on November 21st.
As per Rechner, the team aims to enhance the strategic and precise elements of the game’s battle system, addressing concerns about its simplicity in the game ‘Outlaws’. The director aspires to reward players for their tactical approach during intense fights.
1) In the updated features, stealth is ranked second. Most players found the stealth segments in the game “Star Wars Outlaws” to be harshly penalizing and not worth the effort, as they didn’t offer much satisfaction even when executed correctly. (Paraphrased)
The previous three title updates have addressed those problems to some extent. Still, Rechner wants to improve the “readability and consistency of enemy detection,” while giving the player more autonomy over how you approach stealth missions.
Least, yet by no means the least important aspect is character movement. The innovative director of the project emphasized that the game should feature enhanced, agile controls for scaling walls and assuming a crouch position, advanced cover behavior, and overall smoother output results.
Computer developers and Ubisoft are optimistic that the modifications in update 1.4, scheduled for release on November 21st, will transform the overall gaming experience into one that is enjoyable and richly satisfying for players.
The date also marks the planned release of the first story pack in the series,Star Wars Outlaws: Wild Card.
Ubisoft intends to share more updates like these in the future, hoping that this transparency boosts players’ trust in the game’s progress as it works towards recovering from the 2024 mishap.
