Star Wars Outlaws DLCs Should Make Kay Vess Galaxy a Bit Bigger

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Star Wars Outlaws has certainly piqued my interest. The game’s immersive storyline and engaging characters have me hooked, and I can’t wait to see more of what it has to offer.

The adventure titled “Star Wars Outlaws” commences with characters Kay Vess and Nix residing modestly as petty thieves in Canto Bight’s commoner district. From the get-go, players are given opportunities to wager on fathier races and secretly swipe valuables from passersby in the bustling streets. Their escapades across other planets ensue swiftly once they encounter Zerek Besh, who ultimately involves them with the Pykes, Crimson Dawn, Ashiga, and Hutts. This leads them to Toshara, Kijimi, Akiva, and eventually Tatooine.

These planets offer a wealth of intriguing twists, deviating from the traditional ‘golden path’. This is particularly evident in the challenging NPC quests labeled as ‘Expert’, such as MT-7’s. It’s quite exciting that Lando Calrissian, an Expert himself, made an appearance here, and it adds to the anticipation knowing he won’t be the last we encounter in Star Wars Outlaws. Two DLC expansions are accessible via the game’s season pass—the first set for release this fall, focusing on Sabacc with Lando, and the second coming in the spring, focusing on ship maneuvers with Hondo. While details about these chapters are scant, it would be thrilling if they both unveil new areas of the galaxy for players to explore.

Star Wars Outlaws’ Galaxy Map Reveals How Disappointingly Small Its Open World is

The game titled “Star Wars Outlaws” is renowned as the first single-player action-adventure open-world game in the Star Wars universe, yet some may question if it adequately represents the expansive Star Wars mythology given that it only features a moon and four planets. To provide balance, it’s important to note that the planet Toshara and its surrounding Toshaal System offer ample space for an open-world Star Wars game on their own. Both familiar and new environments are fully accessible, offering numerous hours of content for players to delve into.

Kijimi City, without its sandbox for speeding, might seem less appealing, but it compensates with numerous Non-Player Characters (NPCs) in snowy side streets for you to engage with. Despite Outlaws focusing on certain locations from Star Wars lore, Ubisoft has the opportunity to expand Kay and Nix’s comprehension of the galaxy further.

The galaxy map in Outlaws seems surprisingly empty, with only a few travel-worthy systems appearing as small dots – one could imagine that more were initially intended but later discarded. Regardless, it’s odd to see so much of the galaxy shown and have only a limited number of destinations to visit within it. Even planets like Toshara and Tatooine are rich in content, but the overall layout of Outlaws feels somewhat disappointing when viewed from a broader perspective.

Star Wars Outlaws’ Story DLCs Would Be a Fine Excuse to Debut New Planets

Considering this, Outlaws might consider using these DLC opportunities to introduce a fresh planet or orbit for each release. Bringing Kay and Lando back together again could lead to an exciting return to Cantonica’s Canto Bight, where they could face off against more high-stakes gamblers. Given that Massive has already showcased a significant portion of the city, they might already have a solid foundation to expand upon.

Instead of just an expansion focusing on Sabacc, it would be thrilling if a new planet were introduced. This might seem unconventional for a DLC centered around Sabacc, but it could share the same scale as Kijimi, allowing players to move between various tables in districts managed by different syndicates.

As a hardcore gamer, I can tell you that “Hondo’s A Pirate’s Fortune” might skip introducing a new planet since the action primarily unfolds around the spaceship, the Trailblazer – all the piratey adventures happen right here in orbit!

Even though there might be other options, introducing players to unseen orbits in the expansion packs would certainly be exciting. If these expansions also included a planet for the storyline of the DLC, that would make it even more engaging. However, having both DLCs set within the events of the main game and on planets already present in Outlaws could help enrich those systems by providing more depth. Yet, concentrating solely on new regions, maps, and vistas for these expansions might be too good an opportunity to resist, given the need to create and implement them quickly.
