The Nintendo Switch 2 version of “Star Wars Outlaws” will be receiving an update in September. This update aims to rectify several issues that were initially present when the game was first launched on the platform, while also enhancing and refining certain aspects of the game for a smoother experience.
Two years after its initial release, the Nintendo Switch version of “Star Wars Outlaws” made its appearance. Currently, the game finds itself in an interesting predicament. The sales targets set for “Star Wars Outlaws” during its original launch weren’t met by Ubisoft, and as the Switch 2 edition was about to be released, whispers hinted that a sequel to the game might have been scrapped altogether.
On September 4, the game “Star Wars Outlaws” made its debut on Nintendo Switch 2. On September 8, a fresh update was rolled out for the game. This update primarily focuses on bug fixes, enhances visuals, and refines the user interface and system performance. Some of the issues tackled in this update could have potentially affected player experience, especially during the early stages of the game. For instance, a glitch where NPCs wouldn’t appear while Kay was being pursued on Toshara during the Crashed quest has been rectified. The game’s protagonist, Kay, is now less likely to get stuck while navigating through environments, and detection mechanisms while hiding in grass on Akiva have been optimized. Additionally, stability improvements and fixes have been implemented.

In terms of graphics, enhancements have been made to clarity when viewing through binoculars or moving swiftly, minimizing the pop-in effect. The flickering of smoke and lighting has been lessened, shadows have been optimized, and various other visual issues have been addressed. The camera’s movement has been smoothed out, and problems with incorrect controller images and directional prompts appearing when switching between Joy-Cons and a Pro Controller have been resolved. Additionally, the gadget inventory HUD now adjusts correctly when using custom handheld scaling settings. Some minor glitches in the Wild Card Story Pack and A Pirate’s Fortune Story Pack have also been rectified.

If the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Star Wars Outlaws performs successfully for Ubisoft, there’s a good chance that a sequel may be produced. Enhancing the game by addressing any issues and providing an enjoyable player experience can significantly increase these chances. This is particularly relevant considering initial concerns among players arose when PAX attendees were not permitted to record gameplay footage of Star Wars Outlaws just before its release, with some claiming that the game did not play well at the event.
