Star Wars Outlaws Title Update 1.4 Aims to Improve Combat and Embrace Player Choice

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a glimmer of hope for Star Wars Outlaws. After its initial release left me longing for more polish and depth, particularly in combat, the recent announcement about Title Update 1.4 has me excited. The new Creative Director, Drew Rechner, seems like just the man to bring the game to life, and I’m eagerly awaiting the November 21st release on Steam.

I found many aspects of Star Wars Outlaws quite enjoyable, yet its combat left much to be desired. I often resorted to exploiting the system by employing stealth tactics or going out of my way to avoid enemies in combat. The experience felt uncomfortable, sluggish, and lacking depth. However, it seems that will change with Star Wars Outlaws’ title update 1.4, which focuses on enhancing the gameplay experience, particularly combat, and emphasizing player-driven choices. This means you’ll have more freedom to approach encounters and missions as you see fit. It’s an exciting development that we hope will encourage players who left the game earlier to return.

The information shared here originates from a recent official blog post by the Star Wars Outlaws team, which also introduced Drew Rechner as their new Creative Director, replacing Julian Gerighty. For now, let’s delve into the gameplay improvements expected in update 1.4, specifically:

Your feedback has already resulted in three Title Updates in which we’ve focused on fixing some of your biggest concerns such as bugs, reducing major friction points in some key missions particularly around stealth, adjusting the speeder camera and collision, and much more. That being said, there are three key areas in which we’re looking to improve the game even further.

One significant aspect for enhancement in the game lies within combat, offering us a chance to amplify complexity and thrill, thereby reinforcing your strategic moves and precision. Another vital area we’re working on is stealth, not just for enhancing enemy detection clarity and consistency but also by giving you options to decide your approach for each encounter. Lastly, our attention is primarily on character controls, aiming to boost cover reliability, enhance the swiftness of climbing and crouching, and ultimately, ensure a more consistent control experience overall.

As a gamer, I’m super pumped to share that we’re going all out when it comes to player choice! Whether you prefer stealthy sneaks or blazing through encounters with guns blazing, there’s something for everyone. In the coming weeks, we’ll delve deeper into the changes and improvements in these areas and more, keeping you updated every step of the way. It all leads up to Title Update 1.4 dropping on November 21st, coinciding with our Steam launch and the release of Star Wars Outlaws: Wild Card story pack!

Fortunately, there’s no need for patience—the Star Wars Outlaws title update 1.4 will be released simultaneously with the game on Steam on the 21st of November.

Star Wars Outlaws has achieved a significant milestone, selling over one million units within a month of its debut. This impressive sales figure has prompted Ubisoft to reconsider their release strategies for future games, suggesting they might opt for immediate Steam launches from now on!
