Star Wars Outlaws' Wanted System Allows for Tons of Stormtroopers

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for chaos and a soft spot for the Star Wars universe, I can hardly contain my excitement for Massive Entertainment’s upcoming gem, Star Wars Outlaws. With its open-world setting and the promise of endless stormtrooper encounters, it’s like Grand Theft Auto in a galaxy far, far away – a dream come true!

In the upcoming release by Massive Entertainment, titled “Star Wars Outlaws“, jointly developed and published by Ubisoft, we find ourselves in the first open-world adventure set within the iconic galaxy “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away”. What makes “Star Wars Outlaws” stand out is not just its open-world gameplay, but also its unique elements. The main character, Kay Vess, is a skilled thief who operates outside the law and must navigate the gritty underbelly of this universe amidst various rival criminal syndicates. As the Empire exerts its power at the peak of its influence, Kay struggles to survive and prosper in this harsh environment while keeping one step ahead of the Empire’s tightening grip.

As a devoted fan, I can say that Kay, a cunning rogue, will be embarking on a mission to sneak, swindle, and ultimately triumph. However, her path won’t be easy as she’ll encounter Imperial enforcers and various criminal groups engaged in illicit activities along the way. The director of the Star Wars Outlaws game, Mathias Karlson, shared with Game Rant that the Wanted System was designed meticulously to provide players an authentic outlaw experience, with a sense of constant evasion while offering ample opportunities to engage in battles against both the Empire and the Syndicates.

Star Wars Outlaws’ Wanted System Is Baked Into its Vision

Previously, some have likened the “Wanted” system in Star Wars Outlaws to Grand Theft Auto due to early previews. However, Karlson points out that it made sense to incorporate such a design element right away, considering the existing game mechanics: it was a logical addition from the start.

“Experience an open-world ‘Star Wars’ adventure starring a rogue or outlaw – a scoundrel – during the Empire’s height of power between ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and ‘Return of the Jedi’. To truly capture the essence, this game would benefit from a Wanted System. This feature not only enhances immersion and fantasy satisfaction but also introduces dynamic excitement across various settings, including bustling city streets and vast outer space.”

Karlson elaborated that this method enhances the immersion and fantasy experience within Star Wars Outlaws’ storyline and gameplay in an organic manner. This results in a variety of opportunities for players to generate dynamic, immersive, and exciting scenarios throughout Star Wars Outlaws. These can range from ill-fated back alley deals to thrilling space raids, offering a rich tapestry of possibilities across the entire game.

While players can engage in conflicts with enemy forces or perform aggressive behaviors similar to Kay, it’s important to note that they should not display such behavior towards friendly characters or non-player characters (NPCs).

Star Wars Outlaws’ Wanted System Will Allow For a Range of Reactivity

In Star Wars Outlaws, players will encounter numerous scenarios as they delve deeper and accept riskier missions. These circumstances can escalate into tense confrontations instantaneously based on their decisions and preferred gameplay style. For instance, they could initiate a sequence of actions that culminates in an intense street battle in Mos Eisley, involving hordes of stormtroopers or the Hutts, after looting an Imperial cache or betraying a gang boss.

All the elements are in place to let gamers dive headfirst into the seedier side of Star Wars, and take on waves of stormtroopers or syndicate members in Star Wars Outlaws if they’re so inclined. They won’t need to wait much longer to do so, either, as Star Wars Outlaws launches on August 30, 2024.

A realm where the consequences of your actions feel instinctive, offering multiple opportunities for you to engage in combat with stormtroopers.
