Eric Barone, known as ‘ConcernedApe’, has confirmed that an update for Stardew Valley, version 1.7, is in the works, despite his ongoing efforts on Haunted Chocolatier. This information was shared via social media with a delightful graphic. However, Eric made it clear that there’s currently no fixed release date or estimated timeline for the Stardew Valley update version 1.7.
For over a year now, the 1.6 update of Stardew Valley, featuring novel items, festivals, and enhanced graphics, has been available across all gaming platforms.
Is Stardew Valley Getting Any More Updates?
It was commonly thought that Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone had stopped making updates for Stardew Valley since he began working on Haunted Chocolatier, his first game in years. After the tremendous and explosive success of Stardew Valley, one of the highest-rated and best-selling indie games ever, Barone is now seeking fresh horizons.
In a recent post on social media, Barone confirmed:
At the concert last night, I made an announcement that has now become public knowledge – I’m excited to verify this for everyone: A new Stardew Valley update (version 1.7) is indeed on its way! While I don’t have a specific release date or estimated timeline to share at the moment, rest assured it’s definitely happening!

Since its release in 2016, Stardew Valley has managed to break a Steam record previously held by Portal 2 for an impressive 14 years. At this moment, an astounding 98% of over 450,000 reviews for Stardew Valley are favorable, making it the undisputed leader among all games on Steam.
To put that into perspective, Steam hosts more than 130,000 games.
At the moment, we don’t have any details about what the Stardew Valley 1.7 update will include. Given ConcernedApe’s history of creating substantial updates, it’s likely to be significant. However, as he’s currently working on Haunted Chocolatier, it’s uncertain when we can expect the next update for Stardew Valley.
